The Senior Product Development engineer leads the technical component of the New Product Development (NPD) and New Technology Development (NTD) projects from conceptualization and design to validation, certification, and industrialization by defining at a very early stage of the project the critical-to-quality requirements, then working cross-functionally with other team members on solutions to meet the needs. The details are validated through thorough Design Reviews with each business Technical Title Holders (TTH) and experts in each relevant technical field, including ASME controlled title holders (CTH). Then, together with the rest of the team and led by the Product Manager seeks the approval of the business leaders to move to the next stage of the development. S(he) is also responsible for the creation and maintenance of the repository of technical documents associated to each project (3D models, 2D drawings, engineering guidelines, assembly instructions, interchangeability charts, certified prints, etc.)

As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for

  • Clarifying project input and ensure that everyone is well aligned with the need and product to be developed
  • Organizing the technical activities on the project and validate the schedules in accordance with the specifications
  • Writing the Product Technical Specification (PTS) that translates the customer's need into technical requirements
  • Performing product design and models
  • Performing associated calculation notes, CFD and FEA to validate the design
  • Managing subcontracting of engineering activities if necessary
  • Writing all the technical documents necessary for the implementation of the new product in the selection and calculation software
  • Writing all technical documents associated with the product
  • Coordinating technical meetings with other departments of the company (sourcing, manufacturing, advanced manufacturing engineering)
  • Implementing design review sessions over the life of the project
  • Participating actively in the identification of risks and mitigation of the same.
  • For new design, completing the Functional Analysis and associated FMEA.
  • Incorporating DF(X) into designing
  • Defining design rules and improve our process.
  • Carrying out the technical training of new products for all the services in the company
  • Work in conjunction with the testing laboratory to set up prototype tests
  • Analyzing and interpret with laboratory teams the results of prototype tests
  • Preparing and supporting invention disclosures to protect company technology advantage and company intellectual property rights
  • Be a recognized expert for safety and pressure relief valves with a proven track record of success in valve design and be part of industrial committees as necessary
  • Be a mentor and provide guidance to new and experienced engineering people and disseminate lessons learned across the engineering organization

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Have Core Design Engineering experience with minimum 10 years
  • Have strong knowledge of mechanical design concepts                             
  • Have advanced knowledge in Fluid Dynamics
  • Have working knowledge in FEA/CFD, ideally in Solid Works/ANSYS
  • Have strong material knowledge in valve & material applications, selections (typically used in O&G, Refinery & Power sectors), ASTM material grades & testing.
  • Be from Pressure Safety valve industry and have strong knowledge of PSV related codes (ASME, API, EN, ...)
  • Prior experience in New Product Design would be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience working in multidisciplinary teams across regions and time zones.
