International Multimedia Journalist – IV (Team Lead)  

  • Lead the production of live and recorded television, radio, streaming, and multimedia programming.  

  • Act as Line Producer in the control room 

  • Plan, develop, and oversee content for news, public affairs, feature, special event, and promotional programming.

  • Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned  

  • As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories  

  • Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned  

  • Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned  

  • Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned  

  • Contributes finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned  

  • Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed  

  • Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines  

  • Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements  

  • Works independently or as a member of a team  

  • Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned  

  • Has specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties  

  • Knowledge of Cuba’s history and familiarity with U.S./Cuba relations 

  • Other related duties as assigned

Skills Required

  • Proven experience leading production of live and recorded television, radio, streaming, and multimedia programming
  • Ability to act as Line Producer in the control room and manage timing/order of broadcast stories
  • Experience planning, developing, and overseeing news, public affairs, feature, special event, and promotional programming
  • Experience writing, producing, editing, and voicing news and feature content for broadcast, web, and social media
  • Team leadership experience: assigning work, coaching team members, and reporting on performance
  • Fluency in target/native language (written and spoken) and ability to adapt/translate content between native language and English
  • Deep knowledge of the target area and specific knowledge of Cuba's history and U.S./Cuba relations
  • Specialized knowledge including relevant formal education in a field desired by VOA
  • Ability to develop or update standard operating procedures and suggest workflow improvements
  • Must pass a thorough background check (personal service contractor requirement)
