Ironsite is building the intelligence layer for the physical world. We design our own wearable hardware, deploy it alongside craft workers, and transform a shift's footage into a next-morning report. Our internal team and purpose-built models label the data overnight and deliver actionable insights to superintendents by 5 AM.
We are accelerating the speed, efficiency, and predictability of construction, especially for complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects, including data centers, LNG facilities, sports stadiums, hospitals, and other large-scale developments, by training AI models on egocentric construction footage and labor productivity data. We are built with a pro-worker philosophy at our core: we believe technology should empower the workforce, not replace it. We're working to give craft workers and project leaders better visibility into what's happening on-site, while creating a system where the reality of construction and the chaos of each day is finally available to the people running the project.
Ironsite is deployed across several of the largest active construction projects in the country. To date, we've captured more than 100,000 hours of construction footage across seven states, now process thousands of hours of site activity every day, and maintain a worker opt-out rate below two percent. This is enabled by a workforce-first architecture that anonymizes devices, captures no audio, and never releases raw video.
Ironsite is backed by leading investors (8VC, South Park Commons, Saga Ventures) and prominent operators across technology and construction, including Eric Schmidt, Jeff Dean, Jeff Rothschild, Mark Leslie, Scott Wu, Eric Glyman, Karim Atiyeh, Russell Kaplan, and others, alongside over a dozen construction industry operators who have joined us as partners in building this.
Longer term, we believe Ironsite is the foundation for what construction becomes in the next decade. We think the systems we're building are the operating system for how the physical world gets built, and will unlock a fundamentally different way of respect for our workforce. One where craft workers are more valued, more visible, and better paid for the skill they bring, and where the industry finally has the intelligence layer that makes autonomous construction possible. Both futures start with the same foundation.
We're hiring an exceptional Senior Engineer to help build the Ironsite platform.
You'll build and ship the product that turns our video data into something construction teams act on every day, including the dashboards project leaders open at 5 AM, the labor-management tools superintendents run their entire jobsite on, the mobile experience craft workers carry in their pocket, and the integration layer that connects Ironsite to the software the industry already lives in.
You'll own meaningful initiatives that directly impact tens of thousands of craft workers and dozens of the largest contractors in the country, working alongside our engineering team and technical leadership to shape what Ironsite becomes over the next few years.
- Labor Management. The tools superintendents will run their entire jobsite on: Time & Attendance, Crew Management, Change Order Management, Progress Tracking & As-Builts, and Labor Planning. This is the daily-driver surface that decides whether Ironsite becomes the system of record for the field, or just another tool competing for attention.
- Craft Worker Mobile Experience. The worker-facing mobile web app that turns Ironsite from something workers wear into something they use daily, including profiles, stats, achievements, badges, the rewards marketplace, exportable resumes, and multi-language daily notifications with SMS delivery for workers in the field. This is where our pro-workforce philosophy translates into product, and where we build the recognition and career-building layer for the trades.
- Integrations & API. The connectors that let Ironsite plug into the existing construction and HR stack, including tools like Procore, Autodesk, Trimble, and the long tail of ERP and payroll systems, along with the API infrastructure underneath them. Done right, this is what makes Ironsite the ground-truth layer feeding every other system on a jobsite; done wrong, it's a bottleneck on every deployment.
- Ground Truth Tooling. The internal tools that power our labeling operation and feed the AI team's data engine, including the Tagger Portal, GT dashboards, admin tools, and quality tooling that keep hundreds of subject-matter experts labeling thousands of hours of video every night at a bar high enough for our research team to train and evaluate on.
Technical Challenges You'll Solve
- Building trustworthy reports on top of high-volume model output. Every night, our system processes thousands of hours of jobsite video into production reports that superintendents open before the crews arrive on site. That deadline is real, the reports have to be right, and the underlying model outputs are messy at the scale we operate. You'll build the data infrastructure and reporting layer that makes this happen without fail.
- Integrating with an industry running on legacy tools. Ironsite has to interoperate with Procore, Autodesk, Trimble, and a long tail of ERP and payroll systems that are decades old and often internally inconsistent. You'll build the integrations that let Ironsite pull ground-truth data from and push insights back into systems the industry actually uses, in ways that insulate our core platform from the chaos of those interfaces.
- Shipping a mobile experience for the field. The craft worker mobile web app has to work for non-technical users in real jobsite conditions: low connectivity, multiple languages, wide range of devices, and enough polish to actually drive daily engagement. You'll build the mobile surface that makes Ironsite something workers open every day.
- Scaling internal tooling for a labeling operation that never stops. Our labeling team labels thousands of hours of video every night to feed the AI team's training and evaluation pipelines. As the operation grows, the tooling has to keep the workforce fast, the data clean, and the quality bar high enough that our researchers can trust what they're training on.
What We're Looking For
- Strong full-stack skills, with production experience across modern frontend (React/TypeScript), backend services (Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis), and cloud infrastructure (AWS). You've made real judgment calls with each and know when to reach for which.
- Experience shipping web applications at scale, in production, with the kind of reliability construction customers won't tolerate the absence of.
- Solid background in API design, third-party integrations, and real-time data and analytics surfaces.
- Systems thinking that spans end-to-end product architecture. You care about the seams between systems, not just the systems themselves.
- Typically 5+ years of full-stack product experience, with a track record of shipping meaningful things you're proud of.
- A background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or the equivalent hands-on experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience owning and shipping product surfaces end-to-end, from schema through to UI, and knowing how to make the tradeoffs that come with that scope.
- Background building analytics dashboards, reporting systems, or business intelligence surfaces where the data itself is the product.
- Experience shipping mobile web experiences designed for real-world conditions.
- Genuine excitement about industries that have been underserved by software, and interest in becoming one of the engineers who builds the infrastructure the physical world runs on.
- Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Autodesk, Trimble), HR tech, or similar enterprise workflow tools.
- San Francisco Bay Area (on-site)
- Base salary: $160k-$230k per year, commensurate with experience
- Meaningful founding-team equity.
- Full benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) with 6% match
- Daily catered breakfast and lunch
- Office in San Francisco, next to Oracle Park and the Caltrain
Final compensation is determined by experience, location, and level.
CompensationThe base pay range for this role is $160,000 – $230,000 per year.
