Responsibilities and duties (includes but not limited to)

  • Translate business requirements into architecture 
  • Convert availability, performance, and regulatory needs into technical designs  
  • Create HLDs depicting Logical Architecture and Traffic flow 
  • Define design principles with focus on scalability, resilience, simplicity and standardization 
  • Strategize on methods to improve overall network infrastructure with a low-latency profile 
  • Design and deploy customer networks with automation, security, and operability as focus  
  • Evaluate vendors, platforms, and protocols for long-term fit 
  • Support internal and external customer facing issues as a point of escalation 
  • Generate, Follow Up, and Complete tickets for internal projects and customers  
  • Construct valid configurations for implementation based upon design and/or technical concepts 
  • Implement critical configuration changes as required through established change control processes and systems with little to no guidance 
  • Participate in daily meetings to review changes and underlying impacts 

Education, Skills and background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements) 

  • 10-14 years of experience working on network equipment in an ISP style environment or a large NOC 
  • 7-10 years of experience with Fortinet, Arista, and/or Cisco hardware and software  
  • CCIE or JNCIE certified or equivalent level of knowledge 
  • Expert understanding and deployment experience in the following technologies:  
  • IP Protocols (ICMP, UDP, TCP) 
  • Firewalls (VPNs, Policies) 
  • Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF) 
  • Multicast Routing (IGMP, PIM)  
  • NAT (Static, Dynamic) 
  • Network Sniffers (TCP/IP Analysis) 
  • NTP, PTP and Network Timing 
  • Ability to analyse and diagnose problems and lead system recovery effectively 
  • Clear verbal and written communicator 
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing own workload  
  • Self-motivated 
  • Capable of working with little supervision  
  • Creative thinker with out of the box ideas 
  • Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge, and help others develop  
  • Interested in cutting edge technology 
  • Driven to develop own skills and knowledge  
  • Scripting in Bash or Python 
  • Familiarity with Linux 
  • Understanding of JIRA as a ticketing system 

Working Arrangements 

This is a Hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions/geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certification. 
New York Pay range
$190,000$210,000 USD
