Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • Mentors project teams/managers regarding project management best practices. 
  • Facilitates and coordinates the project portfolio definition, its structure, and processes, from demand management and strategic alignment of projects and programs to portfolio categories and criteria, through evaluation, selection, prioritization, and resource management; to execution, tracking and measuring the achieved results. 
  • Drives activities to achieve measurable outcomes by managing schedule, resource, scope, deliverables, budget, risk, issue, dependency, vendor relationship and communications. 
  • Works with IT and Business project leads to identify, track and report on the portfolio of IT projects from resource allocation through the project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, close). 
  • Manages the IT project In-take process based on Organizational priorities, critical business case objectives and expected return on investment. 
  • Creates and maintains required project portfolio documentation and artifacts including a portfolio (inventory) of all projects with their status. 
  • Coordinates dependencies across the projects and programs in the portfolio and resolves or escalates conflicts. 
  • Hire, train, and lead staff for high levels of performance and results, professional development, best practices, and impact. 
  • Assists with the enhancement of documentation related to process, SOPs, schedule templates, reports, communication plans, etc. 
  • Works with IT or business stakeholders to drive vendor evaluations and selections for new projects and solutions. 
  • Leads select projects with overall responsibility for successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, status reporting and closure. 
  • Creates a collaborative environment which allows the team and stakeholders to interact closely. 

Required Skills: 

  • Demonstrated history of leading a team and building a culture of high performance. 
  • Technical project management experience. 
  • Management of portfolios with a significant number of projects of all sizes and complexities, and related operations and activities across multiple functions including resource management. 
  • People management experience including mentoring and developing staff. 
  • Project management skills: create and execute project plans, proactively manage risks/issues, maintain compliance with project management processes, an eye for detail, independently maintain project documentation, drive follow-up on open actions etc. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills: Identifies opportunities or problems and acts quickly and decisively to respond to the situation. Ability to drive productive conversations and team meetings. Active listening skills. 
  • Excellent People skills: a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, be able to work with cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong team player, able to foster teamwork, collaboration, and a positive working environment to the project team. 
  • Analytical skills: ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives, and recommend sound decisions. 
  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem. 
  • Business acumen and business case development. 
  • Track record of managing multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new and changing business and technical environments. 
  • Adept at articulating technical implications to business users/stakeholders. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and juggle competing demands. 
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • 10+ years in IT project, program, and/or portfolio management. 
  • 3+ years managing a team of project and program managers in a technology setting. 
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies. 
  • Familiarity and exposure with managing IT infrastructure projects. 
  • Adept at usage of various tools such as Microsoft Excel, Project, Power Point, Visio, etc. 
  • PMP or similar certification. 
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy or construction industry.
  • Portfolio Management experience.

Salary Range

$154,550 - 170,820
