Description
We grow the world's BEST Strawberries & need a savvy Senior Public Relations & Communications Manager to tell our story! This is an extraordinary opportunity to help a mission-based, high-growth start-up, build a transformational brand in a commoditized category.
As part of our Commercial Team, the Senior Public Relations & Communications Manager will be responsible for the vision, strategy, and execution of PR and Communications.
You will develop and lead US communication strategies that garner earned media coverage, generate widespread consumer awareness, amplify Oishii's narrative and mitigate crises. You will manage brand-building activities including (but not limited to) media strategy development, editorial placement, relationship building with media, influencer relations, fundraising achievements, high profile events and product launches. You will also work cross functionally within the Marketing organization to further inform the brand's identity, overarching corporate narrative and partnership strategies.
What you'll be responsible for:

• Develop and collaborate with the executive team on public relations strategy to grow Oishii brand awareness among consumers & media.
• Create innovative PR strategies and campaigns that touch all types of media; driving compelling business and brand narratives across business, tech, political, trade, and consumer verticals.
• Oversee an external agency partner including managing relationships and budgets to fulfill reputation strategy and objectives.
• Understand key business priorities and metrics in order to identify technology and business stories, and where to leverage our Co-Founder & CEO.
• Lead development of all Oishii spokespeople, to position as experts in the industry evaluating all media opportunities, press appearances, speaking engagements, etc.
• Lead press-worthy consumer facing events to reiterate brand positioning in the eyes of media, including key industry events.
• Liaise with key media contacts regionally and nationally.
• Proactively develop a crisis management strategy.
• As needed, handle crisis communications and act as the point of contact during crisis situations.
• Coordinate and liaise with Japanese PR agencies to coordinate press releases, and determine timing and cadence of communication between US and Japanese markets depending on the story or event.
• Ability to travel as needed and support media, PR and speaking engagement in person.

What we look for in a Senior Public Relations & Communications Manager:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 8+ years experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields; agency experience is a plus.
• Natural storyteller; familiarity with our berries is a plus!
• Demonstrated success and expertise in disruptive and innovative consumer-focused products, tech, food, or sustainability spaces.
• Strong established media relationships in the NYC and national market with a proven track record of securing feature stories across all forms of media; You are an aggressive and results-oriented media pitcher.
• Experience supporting, consulting & coaching executive leadership.
• Fluent in Japanese is a plus!
• This role is onsite in our Jersey City, NJ office at least 3 days a week; travel will be required in the role including to our Farm in Phillipsburg, NJ.
