About this Role

Mercer Technical Services (MTS), a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Sr. Logistics Solutions Specialist to develop customer-specific logistics solutions, strengthen carrier and supplier partnerships, and support business decisions through pricing, financial modeling, and analytics.

This role combines practical logistics knowledge with commercial strategy to develop competitive, profitable transportation solutions across heavy haul, project logistics, international freight, and energy infrastructure supply chains. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, this individual will improve pricing tools and processes, evaluate business opportunities, and turn complex data into actionable recommendations.

What You'll Do
  • Develop customer-specific logistics solutions and pricing recommendations, using cost models to evaluate routing, transportation modes, and distribution strategies that balance service, operational feasibility, and profitability.
  • Research transportation markets, source carrier and supplier pricing, and maintain rate schedules, market benchmarks, and historical cost data.
  • Evaluate carrier rates, accessorial charges, transit times, capacity, and service capabilities to support sourcing decisions and customer commitments.
  • Collaborate with commercial and operations teams on customer proposals, requests for proposals (RFPs), and strategic account development.
  • Support carrier negotiations, preferred-provider relationships, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Evaluate pricing scenarios, margin sensitivity, volume commitments, and commercial terms, including master service agreements and fuel surcharge structures.
  • Compare quoted and actual costs to identify pricing discrepancies, margin erosion, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain pricing calculators, analytical tools, and standardized workflows that automate repetitive tasks and improve data quality, accuracy, documentation, and efficiency.
  • Analyze revenue, gross profit, transportation spend, carrier performance, customer activity, and project financial results. Develop forecasts, dashboards, and scenario models to identify cost savings, profitability opportunities, and business trends.
  • Partner with senior leadership on business planning, commercial opportunities, and operational improvement initiatives. Prepare clear recommendations and executive presentations, coordinate cross-functional assignments, and drive action items through completion.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, finance, economics, engineering, analytics, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, strategic sourcing, commercial analytics, pricing, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, data modeling, and scenario analysis.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to validate assumptions and evaluate tradeoffs among cost, service, operational requirements, and profitability.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings and present clear, actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently with incomplete information, adapt to changing priorities, and take ownership of assignments through completion.
  • A collaborative approach to working across commercial, operations, procurement, finance, and project management teams, along with sound judgment and discretion.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience in project logistics, heavy haul, freight forwarding, energy infrastructure, construction logistics, or industrial supply chains.
    • Experience sourcing transportation capacity, analyzing carrier rates, or supporting commercial negotiations.
    • Experience with process automation, business intelligence, transportation management systems, Microsoft 365, or data integration workflows.
    • Proficiency with Power Query, VBA, SQL, Python, Power BI, HTML, or similar analytical and automation technologies.
    • MBA or an advanced degree in a related field.
