About the Role

What You Will Do

  • Maintain and expand a custom Linux-from-scratch style distribution that underlies several hardware products on multiple architectures.
  • Maintain and extend build systems, cross-compilation tooling, release automation, and software for such environments.
  • Work on Roon software integrations with third-party hardware and software platforms.
  • Work on the administration/configuration interfaces for our hard work products.
  • Work with configurations of disparate operating systems and hardware platforms.
  • Provide support for debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Work on lower-level systems components of client software like networking and data management.
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders.

What You Need

  • 5+ years of experience working with embedded systems and software design.
  • Strong systems software understanding of data storage, processing, memory management, file systems, networking, and concurrency.
  • Experience in sysadmin and being comfortable with the configuration of disparate operating systems and hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with how Linux distributions are put together and how to build open-source software from source code.
  • Solid understanding of Unix concepts and practices.
  • Experience working with Linux in embedded systems.
  • Familiarization with containerization and virtualization technologies (Docker, VMware, HyperV, etc.) and packaging software for these environments.
  • Experience with automated pipelines for continuous build and integration systems.

What is Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related field.
  • Virtual or Remote work in any US time zone.
  • Familiarity with Node.js.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 5%, domestically and internationally.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.

What We Offer

  • HARMAN has different base pay ranges based on geography and work location within the US. The base pay range for this role is $117,000 - $143,000 + applicable bonus based on California work location. In addition to the work location, an individual's base pay depends upon different factors, such as the job scope and impact and relevant skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
