Job Summary
The Project Manager – Electrical Department is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing electrical projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. The role involves leading electrical engineering teams, coordinating with multidisciplinary departments, managing contractors and vendors, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering and project management within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or power projects.
Job Description:
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in coordination with stakeholders.
Lead end-to-end execution of electrical works (LV, MV, HV systems).
Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when required.
Review electrical designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors, and site teams.
Prepare and manage project budgets and cost forecasts.
Monitor expenses and ensure financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and approve contractor invoices and variation orders.
Optimize project costs without compromising quality and safety.
Lead and mentor electrical engineers, supervisors, and site staff.
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, procurement, and QA/QC departments.
Conduct regular project meetings and performance reviews.
Ensure effective communication with clients and consultants.
Review technical submittals and material approvals.
Coordinate with procurement for equipment and material selection.
Manage subcontractors and ensure contractual compliance.
Evaluate supplier performance and maintain quality standards.
Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Maintain project documentation and reporting.
Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE where applicable).
Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures.
Enforce safety standards on-site.
Participate in inspections and audits.
Lead commissioning and final handover documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical project management.
Proven experience managing large-scale electrical projects.
PMP certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems including:
Power distribution systems (LV/MV/HV)
Transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
Lighting systems
Earthing and lightning protection
Cable routing and termination
Experience with international standards and codes.
Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design tools.
