The Role 

SimplePractice is looking for a visionary Head of Public Relations and Communications, to lead our team. 

This leader will be instrumental in driving earned media coverage for the SimplePractice brand to help build awareness and comprehension and transform SimplePractice from an EHR to an iconic health and wellness brand. 

Reporting to our Chief Marketing Officer and part of the Marketing Leadership team, this role will be a strategic thinker and an experienced leader , championing ideas and activations that will set new industry standards.  This role will also provide strategic counsel to the President and key members of the executive team to help develop company thought leadership, and manage executive voice and speaking engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Elevate SimplePractice brand through development and implementation of creative approaches to attract media attention and interest – whether that is through unique partnerships, product stories, creative pitching, experiential activations, one-of-a-kind events or leaning into trends and the cultural zeitgeist in a way that is authentic for the brand. This role relies on a continual focus on communication trends and themes externally. As part of the responsibilities, the Head of PR & Communications will need to develop a broad awareness of the external environment and its applicability to communications.
  • A critical component of this role is to use the candidate’s already established extensive media relationships -  in health tech and small business / consumer outlets and other key outlets/journalists in order to continually “pitch” stories.
  • The individual in this role is responsible for creating, editing and developing their own PR materials as well as overseeing the team’s development of all related PR materials including messaging, news releases, executive briefs, talking points, presentations and pitches, among other documents.
  • Work closely with data and research teams to identify data storytelling showcasing momentum of the product in helping customers achieve impact, as well as telling wider cultural stories about mental health access that drive earned media coverage.
  • Develop and execute on a solid community strategy that engages the target audience including customers, builds brand advocacy/ trust and positions the brand as a thought leader and a trusted resource.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of PR and comms, including media outreach, developing an earned media and thought leadership strategy for customer and trade events, and in partnership with social/ influencers/ ambassadors.
  • Manage editorial of Communications as well as provide guidance to senior leadership/key spokespeople for external speaking opportunities.
  • Play strong, senior strategic role in helping to shape and optimize omni-channel marketing plan.
  • Ensure big seasonal brand and product ideas are powerfully brought to life through activations by partnering with creative and production teams.
  • Work closely with EngageSmart  Comms as needed, to amplify key brand moments, bolster executive/brand thought leadership around strategic initiatives and build/protect Brand and Company reputation.
  • Lead first line comms crisis mitigation relative to specific incidents inclusive of media statements, internal comms, response management with stakeholders and development of further preparedness plans.
  • Help drive Employee Engagement in alignment with Culture/experience team and in partnership with HR to engage our people across the brand through both enterprise-wide initiatives and brand-specific comms and experiences.

Desired Skills and Experience

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

  • An exceptional portfolio reflecting 15+ years of communications experience in public relations. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of public relations, media relations and healthtech and /or small business/ consumer tech media. Experience leading a PR organization as well as overseeing the work of PR agencies.
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to develop and implement highly effective strategic and measurable communications plans.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with associates at all levels within the organization and with the general public.
  • Develop and direct strategies for public relations, media relations, community partnerships, and crisis communications in ways that align with and enhance the brand and our reputation.
  • Understands the role of communications in driving a strategic plan and business growth and has proven experience in tying communications efforts to business results.
  • Passionate about SimplePractice mission 
  • Strong and inspiring communicator and storyteller with proven ability to write copy and deliver communications that inspire and deliver results

Base Compensation Range

$200,000 - $250,000 annually

Base salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus or commission. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.

The above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
