Olive Jar Digital is looking for an experienced Senior Developer specialising in Python and Django to support the delivery of digital transformation projects across the public sector. (Active SC Clearance needed)
You’ll work within multidisciplinary Agile teams, developing and maintaining secure, scalable and high-quality software solutions. Drawing on your software engineering and consultancy experience, you’ll contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from Discovery through to Live, helping clients deliver services that meet user needs and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.

What you’ll be doingDesigning, developing and maintaining web applications using Python and Django.
Building robust APIs and integrating applications with other systems and services.
Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code, following software engineering best practices.
Working within multidisciplinary teams using Agile methodologies and GDS standards.
Collaborating with developers, designers, delivery managers and stakeholders to deliver user-focused solutions.
Identifying opportunities to improve application performance, security, scalability and reliability.
Contributing to technical decisions, code reviews and knowledge sharing across the team.
Strong commercial experience developing applications using Python and Django.
Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party services.
Good understanding of software engineering principles, testing, version control and CI/CD practices.
Experience working with databases and designing efficient data models.
Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS, and modern deployment practices.
Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
An understanding of accessibility, security and user-centred design principles.
Public sector, consultancy or GDS experience, with an understanding of the Government Service Standard, would be advantageous.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
