Senior Communications Officer

The team is equipped to plan and execute public relations campaigns, develop content for electronic, print mediums, and websites, and manage communications projects from concept to completion.

The Senior Communications Officer will work within the communications unit, coordinating marketing campaigns, media relations and implementing strategies for clients and projects.

• Manage assigned client accounts

• Attend client events as required

• Develop communications plans including strategy, goals, budget and tactics

• Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media

• Oversee all public relations activities for assigned client accounts

• Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media

• Create content for company and client press releases, press kits, articles and publications and keynote presentations

• Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a monthly basis

• Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them

• Marketing Project Management

• Liaising with colleagues and key spokespeople

• Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations, often via telephone and email

• Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media

• Collating and analysing media coverage

• Writing and editing speeches, articles and annual reports

• Devising and coordinating photo opportunities

• Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours

• Assist in maintaining and updating information on the organisation's website, social media platforms

• Co-managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation

• Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline
  

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations or marketing at a senior level is required

• Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and regional level

• Strong relationships with both local and regional business and industry media outlets

• Experience in acting as a company spokesperson

• Exceptional oral, written, editing and presentation-based communications skills

• Solid experience with social media including blogs, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

• Event planning and execution experience
