About RoboClaim
RoboClaim is building AI agents that integrate directly with insurance claims systems, helping teams process claims faster and more accurately without replacing the tools they already use.
We’re a small, growing SaaS team working on real-world engineering problems across multi-tenant architecture, AI-driven workflows, asynchronous processing, and enterprise integrations.
Why this role exists
We’re looking for a senior backend engineer who can help strengthen the technical foundations of RoboClaim as we scale.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll influence architecture and technical decisions, but you’ll also build, debug, review, and ship the systems you design. We’re looking for someone who can make thoughtful tradeoffs, avoid unnecessary complexity, and take ownership from problem definition through production.
What you’ll do
Design and build backend services, multi-tenant data models, APIs, and business workflows.
Build the orchestration behind AI-powered claims workflows, including asynchronous jobs, validation, integrations, and human-in-the-loop processes.
Design reliable GraphQL and REST APIs and integrations with external insurance and claims-management systems.
Work deeply with PostgreSQL across data modeling, indexing, migrations, transactions, and performance.
Build and maintain background processing using Redis/BullMQ and event-driven patterns.
Strengthen authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, auditability, and handling of sensitive data.
Improve observability, reliability, testing, and performance of production services.
Work closely with product and engineering to scope problems, make architectural decisions, review code, and ship iteratively.
What we’re looking for
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend experience.
Deep experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
Strong experience with NestJS or a comparable structured backend framework.
Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and experience designing production data models.
Experience building secure, scalable, production-grade SaaS systems.
Experience with APIs, third-party integrations, asynchronous processing, Redis, or message queues.
Comfortable working with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
Strong understanding of SaaS architecture, authorization, and data isolation; multi-tenant experience is highly preferred.
Strong engineering judgment: you can explain technical tradeoffs, challenge assumptions, and know when simplicity is better than additional architecture.
Our stack
Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis/BullMQ, GraphQL/REST, AWS ECS, Cognito, Secrets Manager, Cloudflare, and Vercel.
You don’t need experience with every technology in the stack.
Nice to have
Prisma or TypeORM experience.
CI/CD and production observability experience.
Experience with multi-tenant or early-stage SaaS products.
Experience integrating with legacy or enterprise systems.
Familiarity with AI/LLM application architecture.
Insurance, fintech, healthcare, or other regulated-industry experience.
What success looks like
30 days: You understand the architecture and product and have shipped meaningful backend improvements.
90 days: You’ve designed and taken ownership of a significant backend capability running in production.
6 months: Our backend is more reliable, maintainable, observable, and easier to extend because of your work.
What we offer
Full-time, fully remote role with flexible working hours.
Significant influence over technical and architectural decisions.
Direct collaboration with the people defining and building the product.
Small team with short feedback loops and little bureaucracy.
Opportunity to grow with the company and take on broader technical leadership over time.
Interview process
We keep the process practical and focused on how you think and build.
Introductory conversation.
Practical technical assessment.
Technical discussion with the team.
Final conversation.

What We Do
RoboClaim develops AI agents specifically for Property and Casualty (P&C) claims teams, purpose-built for Lloyd's and domestic insurance markets. Their AI agents integrate directly with existing insurance claims systems to help teams process more claims faster and more accurately without needing to change their current tools. They focus on creating AI solutions that work alongside people to enhance productivity rather than replacing them.
