Scope of Job: The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and ensuring the accurate recording of financial transactions. This role performs account reconciliations, prepares journal entries, analyzes financial results, supports month-end and year-end close activities, assists with financial reporting, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues. The Senior Accountant also identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies, supports internal and external audits, and may provide guidance, training, and review of work performed by junior accounting staff as needed.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, post journal entries and analyse trends and variances.
  • Perform calculations and ensure reserves and accruals are properly stated. 
  • Provide supporting schedules, documentation and information requested for tax preparation.
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger and depreciation schedules for book and tax.
  • Support Assistant Controller with monthly financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with outside auditors and provide supporting schedules, documentation and information requested.
  • Prepare written analyses and reports and participate in meetings with management to discuss results, answer questions, and address accounting-related matters.
  • Collect and analyse data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies. 
  • Review data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, surplus income, and expenditures.
  • Provide inputs and uploads into weekly cash flow forecasting model and communicate week over week changes.
  • Backup for other positions in Finance, such as accounts payable, cost accounting, and payroll, as required.
  • Document processes, organize date and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required. CPA a plus.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Finance and Accounting.

Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged sitting and continuous use of computer. May lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 10 lbs. 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • 7+ years of experience in Finance and Accounting
  • CPA certification
  • Account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, bank reconciliation, depreciation calculations, financial accounting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, year-end close, revenue recognition, GAAP standards, and advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Experience with accounting software
