SUMMARY:

Responsible and accountable for the following area:

  • Accountant for IK Motors, Inc. dba Kamaaina Motors , Kona Auto Center and Kamaaina Nissan (hereinafter called Dealerships).
  • Will be responsible to complete the monthly financial reports of the Dealerships as required by the manufacturers and management.
  • Will assist in the preparation of the annual audit and tax preparation for the Dealerships in collaboration with the Director of Finance and independent CPA.
  • Will comply with all governmental compliance issues on accounting, tax and audit.
  • Will maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Direct report is to the Director of Finance and in his/her absence, the President.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Prepares a complete monthly financial statement according to generally accepted accounting principles for the Dealerships.
  • Ensures that all financial reports for the Dealerships will be done timely and accurately.
  • Interprets the financial reports and daily operating information and regularly informs the Director of Finance of developing trends.
  • Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the Dealerships.
  • Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts the sources and uses of funds.
  • Reviews and assures that the Dealerships general ledger and scheduled accounts are reconciled and accurate and report any discrepancies that may exist.
  • Complies with all applicable governmental accounting or tax regulations. This includes payroll taxes, corporate taxes, excise taxes and income taxes.
  • Works in the coordination of the annual review for I. Kitagawa & Co., Ltd. and its affiliates with the Director of Finance and the outside CPA to ensure accurate and timely completion of year-end financial documentation, annual reports and tax returns.
  • Participates in the annual physical parts inventory for the Dealerships.
  • Performs audits for the Dealerships as assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Attends mandatory management meetings.
  • Maintains professional appearance and hygiene; Ensure work uniform and name badge are always worn.
  • Completes and remains current with all mandatory manufacturing, safety compliance, safeguards, and cybersecurity training.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or President.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATION:

  • Have and maintain a current driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must be able to work retail hours, which might include nights and/or weekends.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and five (5) years minimum related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Basic Google Suite skills
  • Proficient with Email & Communication
  • Experience with Inventory Management Software

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memorandums.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • An ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management, customers, clients and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

  • Minimum requirement, Bachelors Degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college.

  • Ability to work with multiple projects, tasks and deadlines.
  • Continuous alertness and attention to detail, concentration and ability to perform mathematical calculations to produce accurate work
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with leadership and Store Personnel on time-sensitive matters.

WORK HOURS:

  • Regular Business Hours
  • Travel between IKC and dealership locations may require longer hours.
  • Inventory events may require longer hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Skills Required
