Short Description:

This position will independently perform a full range of advanced analytical and technical activities over NCDOT’s entire system landscape. The position serves in a leadership role on the SAP BASIS team to provide technical guidance to other team members

Complete Description:

Responsibilities include configuration, analysis, development, and modifications to utilities, interfaces and third party software packages that NCDOT utilizes. The system landscape is well over 30 systems consisting of both ABAP and JAVA based systems. As well, this position is expected to recommend information technology solutions that offer sound design theory and bring forward system principles and best practices that will enhance the performance of the ERP system. Additionally, this position is responsible for working with management to establish Enterprise Application initiatives and long term strategic goals for the ERP system; communicating, planning, organizing and leading fellow team members to accomplish those initiatives and goals.

• Leads meetings with functional/development resources to determine requirements for system modifications.

• Independently manages multiple system modifications; completing all required technical documentation and documentation needed for approval of system modifications.

• Key resource to provide knowledge transfer and training to junior administrators.

• Key resource to provide guidance and advanced consultation on an on-going basis for other analysts and administrators in the organization with system modifications, problem resolution, modification design, and change control procedures.

• Provides guidance in the areas of issue troubleshooting and resolutions, maintenance, SAP technologies and system architecture roadmap design.

• Documents complex business requirements needed for system modifications.

• Independently resolves system issues through analysis, recommends solutions, and supports the entire project life cycle.

• Manage and Support SAP Technical Infrastructure components that run on ABAP and/or JAVA stacks

• Provides Performance Tuning/Installations/Documentation/Upgrades/Monitoring of SAP Application/ NetWeaver Suite of products like ERP, BW, XI, CRM, Portal, GRC on AIX/DB2 platforms

• Researches and Installs Enhancement packages and SAP delivered Business Content for SAP Applications

• Evaluate Early Watch/Service Level reports and come up with an action plan to address the gaps on an ongoing basis

• Perform Client Copies/System Refreshes to support QA testing

• Perform capacity planning activities to track database growth to advise on sizing and to participate in SAP archiving activities

• Support current SAP DR Strategy and Backup-Recovery/Configuration/ upgrade/ monitoring of DB2 databases in an SAP environment.

• Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts required for monitoring alerts and process automation.

• Work with Unix/Storage and Network teams to configure systems and troubleshoot.

• Responsible for the design, configuration, support and maintenance of NCDOT’s SAP’s ERP system.

Qualifications

 Extensive knowledge of NCDOT’s business processes to determine modification scheduling to limit downtime.

• Reviews team member’s technical solution packages for soundness of solution and implementation process.

• Lead, performs and participates in unit testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing.

• Performs extensive analysis on modifications to determine SAP Best practices/approach.

• Technical resource for other teams: Functional team, Developers, Security and Training team.

• Develops and ensures completion of high quality documentation to support critical business processes.

• Utilizes resources to do continuing professional education in SAP modules, emerging technology and SAP best practices

Skills Required

  • Extensive SAP BASIS administration experience across large landscapes (30+ systems)
  • Hands-on experience with ABAP and JAVA based SAP systems
  • Experience with SAP NetWeaver Suite components: ERP, BW, XI, CRM, Portal, GRC
  • Experience on AIX and DB2 platforms and DB2 database administration in SAP environments
  • Performance tuning, installations, upgrades, monitoring of SAP applications
  • Experience with SAP enhancement packages, delivered business content, and Early Watch/Service Level reports
  • Perform client copies/system refreshes and capacity planning/archiving activities
