An authorized distributor for Vermeer equipment in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Western Missouri with five branch locations across the region. A 100% employee-owned company, we provide dedicated sales, rentals, parts, and service support for customers in the tree care, landscaping, wood waste, organic recycling, underground construction, and mining industries.


POSITION FUNCTION:

The Sales Representative will represent and promote the sales department operations in a courteous manner which insures customer confidence and maximum efficiency. Coordinate activities and cooperate with other departments. Sell company goods, parts, services at all times.


ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Call on customers and sell the company’s products, parts and services
  • Maintain sales department vehicles and office equipment
  • Keep updated on changes to manufacturer’s terms, discounts and special programs
  • Stay well-informed on current and incoming inventory
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all factory finance plans
  • Become the customer’s primary contact for questions regarding the safe operation and proper application of all VGP equipment and accessories
  • Maintain customer information in CDK
  • Become an expert in the safe operation of and function of all VGP equipment and accessories sold by the company in order to facilitate Demos
  • Stay current with the latest trends, standards, and skills required within your field and industry by continuously developing through your Individual Development Plans, etc.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in Employee Handbook
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be committed to and take a pro-active approach to our Company Mission, Vision and Values
  • Strong PC proficiency with MS Windows and MS Office Suite; CDK a plus
  • The ability to quickly build rapport with customers and suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience with hydraulic systems, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, diagnosing and calibration
  • Equipment operator experience required
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong current electronic diagnosing capabilities
  • Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
  • Demonstrated safe work habits
  • High degree of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Strong ability to adapt to the people and environment around them - customers, suppliers, co-workers and manufacturer's employees
  • Ability to conduct yourself in a professional, ethical and reliable manner with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate professionally, respectfully and honestly at all times
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear 100% of the time
  • Ability to be exposed to extreme weather elements, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat regularly
  • Ability to withstand moderate to high noise level in working environment regularly
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Extensive travel required (75% or more of the time)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma/GED or vocational training/certification required
  • 3 years of experience in outside heavy equipment sales in the same/similar industry with heavy equipment operation experience and 3-5 years of heavy equipment technician/mechanic experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Valid unrestricted Driver's License required and the ability to maintain a valid unrestricted DL throughout employment; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for certain trucks to perform the duties of a Sales Representative. VGP will review motor vehicle records annually for all employees for whom driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function
  • Background check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record required

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years heavy equipment technician/mechanic experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Equipment operator experience
  • Demonstrated experience with hydraulic systems, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, diagnosing and calibration
  • Strong electronic diagnosing capabilities and mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Strong PC proficiency with MS Windows and MS Office
  • CDK experience
  • Valid unrestricted Driver's License (maintain throughout employment)
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for certain trucks
  • Background check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physical job functions (stand, walk, stoop, kneel, etc.)
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
  • Extensive travel (75% or more)
  • Bilingual (a plus)
