Role Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving sustainable revenue
growth across the Synkron Group by developing new business, expanding existing
client accounts, strengthening the sales pipeline, and improving the conversion
of commercial opportunities across the Group's portfolio.
The role involves proactive market development across Synkron's
industrial engineering and technical solutions, building strong client
relationships, understanding client operational and technical requirements, and
working closely with engineering, operations, projects, logistics, and OEM
partners to develop commercially viable solutions.
The Sales Manager will also
support the commercial growth of the Synkron Training Center by generating
training opportunities, following up prospective learners and corporate
clients, supporting learner and client onboarding, and developing long-term commercial
partnerships. The role requires a commercially driven individual with strong
business development, technical solution selling, strategic account management,
and sales execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Revenue
Growth
Develop and execute Synkron's sales plan in line with approved revenue
objectives. Translate revenue targets into clear sales priorities, pipeline
requirements, and account plans while identifying opportunities to increase
recurring revenue through services, maintenance, spare parts, training, and
long-term client relationships.
2. New Business Development &
Market Expansion
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified new-business opportunities.
Proactively identify and engage prospective clients through direct outreach,
referrals, networking, industry events, OEM relationships, and strategic
partnerships. Develop opportunities from initial engagement through
qualification, solution development, proposal, negotiation, and conversion.
3. Strategic Account Management
& Client Growth
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with existing clients. Identify
cross-selling, upselling, repeat-business, and account-growth opportunities
across projects, equipment, services, spare parts, and training. Conduct
regular account reviews and work with operational teams to ensure effective
delivery of commercial commitments.
4. Technical Solution Selling
Understand Synkron's engineering, automation, and technical solutions and
engage clients to understand their operational and technical requirements. Work
with engineers, technical specialists, OEM partners, and project teams to
develop appropriate solutions and value propositions.
5. Proposal, Tender &
Commercial Management
Coordinate commercial proposals, quotations, tender responses, and client
presentations. Ensure proposals address client requirements, scope,
deliverables, timelines, and commercial terms. Support negotiations, coordinate
internal approvals, monitor submission deadlines, and ensure successful
handover of won opportunities.
6. Pipeline, CRM & Sales
Performance Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline information within the approved
CRM. Track opportunity values, stages, probabilities, closure dates, and next
actions. Conduct regular pipeline reviews and prepare weekly, monthly, and
quarterly sales forecasts and reports.
7. OEM, Partner & Channel
Development
Build productive commercial relationships with OEMs and technology partners.
Identify joint opportunities, coordinate client engagements and demonstrations,
leverage partner relationships for lead generation, and support joint
go-to-market initiatives.
8. Services, Spare Parts &
Recurring Revenue Growth
Develop opportunities for preventive and corrective maintenance, technical
support, system upgrades, spare parts, service agreements, and other recurring
commercial arrangements. Work with technical teams to convert recurring client
needs into structured commercial solutions.
9. Training Center Sales &
Learner Onboarding Support
Drive commercial growth of Synkron Training Center programs among corporate and
individual learners. Generate corporate training opportunities, follow up
enquiries and prospective learners, support clients through available training
pathways, and identify opportunities for repeat training and additional
enrolments.
10. Cross-Functional Commercial
Coordination
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Projects, Logistics, Procurement,
Finance, Marketing, and regional teams to ensure commercially viable and
deliverable solutions. Provide visibility of upcoming opportunities, support
effective handovers, and share market and client feedback to inform product and
service development.
Requirements
Education Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Marketing,
Sales, or a related field.
· An Engineering or technical qualification combined with strong
commercial experience is highly advantageous.
· A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Sales,
Marketing, or a related field is an added advantage.
· Relevant professional sales, key account management, or commercial
certifications are desirable.
· OEM or industrial technology certifications are an added
advantage.
Experience
· Minimum of 5–7 years' progressive experience in B2B sales,
business development, key account management, or technical sales.
· Demonstrated track record of achieving significant revenue and
sales targets.
· Experience selling industrial, engineering, automation,
manufacturing, technology, or other complex B2B solutions is strongly
preferred.
· Proven experience developing new business and managing enterprise
or strategic client relationships.
· Demonstrated experience managing substantial opportunity pipelines
and complex sales cycles.
· Experience developing proposals, tenders, quotations, and managing
commercial negotiations.
· Experience working collaboratively with engineering or technical
teams to develop client solutions.
· Experience with OEM relationships, industrial equipment,
automation, technical services, or spare parts is highly advantageous.
· Experience within African industrial and manufacturing markets is
advantageous.
· Experience selling training, certification, or professional
development solutions is an added advantage.
