Sales Engineer

About the role 

As a Sales Engineer you will: 

  • Provide technical advice, serve as a trusted advisor/ (Sales Engineer) to joint prospects and display the value of our products to partner sales/SEs and their prospects
  • Focus currently on our strategic partners AWS and Atlassian, with additional partners to be developed.
  • Create technical joint reference architectures for combined solutions, contribute to joint value proposition creation. 
  • Develop and deliver SmartBear product demonstrations, training/enablement webinars, demonstration videos. 
  • Help Partner Sales/SEs qualify a prospect and match our products to the customers’ needs. 
  • Provide technical advice, serve as a trusted advisor to joint prospects and display the value of our products to partner sales/SEs and their prospects.
  • Provide technical insight for the Marketing team and assist in content creation for strategic partners and presenting on webinars with Marketing.
  • Travel to industry events to represent SmartBear and occasionally visit partner sales sites and customer-focused trade shows and summits. (Up to 10% travel)
  • Contribute to responses for functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Convey feature requests and new requirements to the Product Management team
  • Work with the Customer Adoption team to help technical onboarding of key clients
  • Learn new technology quickly and independently
  • Train new Sales team members on values of our partner-based joint solutions and joint value proposition to the end customer/prospects. 

 We are looking for you if you have: 

  • Technical degree or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience presenting and/or working with technical concepts around API development and documentation
  • Capable of working with software resellers/ 3rd party partners
  • Experience working with AWS technologies preferred 
  • Worked directly with customers or internal clients to resolve technical problems and advise on technology solutions/strategy. 
  • Experience working with APIs programmatically with Javascript or Python.
  • Ability to travel (approximately 10% of the time) 
  • This role is hybrid out of our Headquarters in Somerville MA, Candidates should be local and within commutable distance to the office.

What’s the vibe like in the office?

I think the office space is great for people of all ages and tenures. It's a warm environment for everyone, but as a recent college graduate, it's nice being able to see others who are in my age bracket. The office is very open to conversation and is always willing to extend a helping hand. All in all, the vibes here are good!
