Description

GMB is currently seeking a Sales Enablement Lead to join our Team of Teams!

At GMB, we believe great work starts with strong relationships, a deep understanding of our clients, and a shared commitment to making education better. Our Client Leads are at the heart of that: building relationships, understanding what schools and universities need, and connecting them with the people and expertise that help them succeed.

As GMB grows, we want to become more intentional, consistent, and effective in how we develop new business. That's where you come in. This role builds how GMB grows: the systems, habits, and skills our Client Leads and teams use to find, win, and keep the right clients. It isn't a traditional sales leadership role. You won't manage a team of salespeople or chase the next big deal yourself. You'll make everyone else better at developing business, working closely with our Client Leads, Marketing team, and organizational leadership, and help shape what sales enablement looks like as we grow into new regions and welcome new teams.

Why Work with Us?

This is the part where most job descriptions jump into the responsibilities and requirements for the role being posted - and we'll get there shortly! But we like to start with the why instead of the what.

Our purpose is helping build strong communities through educational opportunity. We focus on projects within the educational ecosystem, from Pre-K through Higher Education and spaces in our community that support lifelong learning. Our integrated team gets to work together on a wide range of project types – building design, performance engineering, communications campaigns, branding, enrollment marketing, financial analysis, projections and planning – and we're proud of the impact that our work has on the lives and trajectories of students across the United States. Will you join us?

As a Sales Enablement Lead with GMB you will:

Build and improve the system

  • Build and continuously improve the systems, tools, and processes that support business development across GMB, from identifying target clients and researching prospects to managing opportunities through qualification, proposals, and conversion.
  • Make our CRM and data useful, with simple reporting that helps teams understand what's working, where opportunities stall, and what they can do differently.
  • Capture what works so successful approaches can be repeated across teams and hubs.

Coach our people

  • Join our Client Lead Team and work closely with Client Leads to strengthen their business development skills, habits, and effectiveness.
  • Help everyone at GMB see how they contribute to business development, through resource labs, GMB University, and coaching in the moment.
  • Set shared expectations while leaving room for different people, markets, and geographies to work in their own way.

Connect strategy to action

  • Collaborate with our K–12, Higher Ed, and Marketing teams to translate growth priorities into practical business development activities.
  • Help teams pursue the right opportunities, not simply more of them.
  • Occasionally join key pursuits, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Help develop shared sales capabilities that can support existing GMB teams as well as new regional hubs as our organization grows.

What qualities do I need to succeed in this role?

  • 15+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or sales enablement, including firsthand experience developing business and building systems that help others succeed.
  • A track record of building sales processes, tools, or programs that improved a team's results
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or developing others, particularly people who may not consider themselves traditional salespeople.
  • A strong understanding of prospecting, pipeline development, CRM, sales metrics, and opportunity conversion.
  • The ability to organize complexity into practical systems people actually use
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across different personalities and teams.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to lead through expertise, relationships, and shared purpose rather than positional authority.

What might set you apart from other candidates?

  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, consulting, or other professional services would be valuable, but we're equally interested in someone who brings relevant experience and a fresh perspective.
  • Experience coaching active pursuits
  • Experience building enablement across multiple locations or teams
  • Familiarity with K-12 and higher education decision-makers

We might be a great match for each other if you are:

  • Someone who enjoys creating clarity where things are ambiguous and turning good ideas into repeatable practices
  • Analytical and organized, but not rigid: you value data and process, and know business development is ultimately about people and trust
  • Comfortable working alongside outgoing, relationship-driven individuals, helping them channel their energy into consistent, long-term results.
  • Credible in a real sales conversation and willing to demonstrate good practices, without needing to own the relationship or take credit for the win
  • Motivated by seeing others become more capable, confident, and successful because of something you helped build
  • Curious, collaborative, and comfortable working in a self-managed organization where influence matters more than hierarchy.

What you might also like to know is that:

We're an employee-owned company. This means that 100% of the ownership at GMB is held by us as employees. Our creativity, skills, and expertise have a direct impact on our value and growth. Your role as a teammate will have a direct impact on the company's actions and result in a share in its profits.

GMB doesn't operate within a hierarchical pyramid structure; instead, we operate like a network of teams that come together around specific goals working toward our overarching purpose. We think this is a better way to work and help everyone reach their potential.

Finally, at GMB we embrace a flexible workplace that empowers each person to decide where and how they work best. Our inclusive, people-first culture encourages teams to collaborate, communicate and find fulfillment personally and professionally, regardless of location or schedule.

This is a full time, permanent position. Salary will be commensurate with experience, including an excellent benefit package. Must have current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.

Skills Required

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to influence and build trust across different personalities and teams
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, consulting, or other professional services
