The Role
Designs and owns electrical system architecture for C-UAV platforms, including power distribution, battery interfaces, protection circuits, communication systems, RF connectivity, PCBs, sensors, and embedded interfaces. Develops embedded software, integrates and calibrates sensors, validates hardware under real-world conditions, documents designs, and coordinates mechanical and software integration. The role requires PCB design, embedded systems, Python or C++, rapid prototyping, and strong technical communication.
Summary Generated by Built In
As an Electrical Engineer, your main role will be to design and develop electronic hardware for our C-UAV platforms and own the overall electrical system architecture.
You will be in a team, responsible for all electrical subsystems required to operate the drone in real-world deployments, including power distribution and charging infrastructure (power management, battery interfaces, protection and safety circuits), as well as communication and connectivity interfaces (data links, RF modules, antennas, wiring, and integration of external connection ports).
Tasks
RESPONSIBILITY
* Design and electrical components like voltage regulators, and power distribution for drones.
* Create and test electronic circuits and PCBs for flight controllers, sensors, and embedded systems.
* Develop and code software packages for embedded system and interfaces
* Integrate and calibrate sensors such as IMUs, GPS, cameras, LiDar, magnometers.
* Implement communication systems for reliable telemetry and communication.
* Conduct testing and validation of hardware under real-world conditions and environmental stress.
* Document designs and coordinate with teams for smooth integration with mechanical and software systems.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
* Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design (e.g. Altium, KiCad, Eagle)
* Proficiency in rapid prototyping and iterative testing
* Familiarity with embedded systems and interfaces (MCUs, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN)
* Solid programming skills in python and/or C++
* Ability to work autonomously and solve complex technical challenges.
* Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
* MSc in Electrical Engineering or similar field with strong academic records (ETH Zürich or University of Applied Sciences)
NICE TO HAVE
* Familiarity with flight controllers and avionics stacks (PX4, ArduPilot, custom FCs)
* Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation
* Experience with electrical components for multicopters (ESCs, sensors, PDBs)
* Experience with sourcing electrical components
Benefits
WHY CDDS
* Direct impact on a mission‑critical technology shaping Europe’s security landscape
* Fast‑moving startup environment with high ownership
* Work with a highly technical, ambitious, and hands‑on team
* Real‑world testing, deployments, and customer demonstrations
* Attractive compensation
DETAILS
* Location: Hardbrucke (Zurich), on‑site
* Start date: ASAP
* Environment: Rapidly growing deep‑tech startup, high‑impact mission
