Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time geosteering guidance to optimize wellbore placement, working closely with drilling and directional teams.
- Master and follow each operator’s established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Thrive in collaborative team structures, ensuring seamless coordination between geology and drilling functions.
- Complete geological side projects, special studies, and operational initiatives during non-drilling intervals.
- Integrate geological interpretations into drilling decisions and proactively recommend adjustments to improve performance.
- Uphold rigorous QA/QC standards for all geosteering and geological analyses.
- Use cross sections to anticipate casing points, coring intervals, and adjustments to landing targets.
- Remain agile in responding to shifting priorities and operational demands.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
- Prior experience in geosteering or operations geology.
- Strong understanding of drilling operations and how geological interpretations influence drilling dynamics.
- Experience working in collaborative, high-performance team environments.
- Proficiency with geosteering software (e.g., StarSteer, ZoneVu) and geological databases; ability to quickly learn new tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Remote role: work from a private, distraction-free home office.
- Rotational schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, rotating between day and night shifts.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Remote Geosteering Supervisor, contributing to a fully integrated team focused on drilling excellence and operational performance.
