About Pulse
We are building technology designed to get people off their screens and into the real world. Pulse is a consumer social platform that uses an AI facilitator named Pip to match local friend groups and coordinate real-world meetups. Following highly successful pilot programs with thousands of early signups, we are officially launching in Chicago this autumn. We are an agile team of repeat founders looking to build massive local density.
The Role
We need a digitally native creator to visually prove that Pulse works in the real world. Your core objective is to showcase real Chicagoans meeting up and having fun, specifically highlighting the magic of Pip's AI facilitation. You will own our short-form content strategy and build our initial network of local micro-influencers. With our initial launch focusing heavily on neighborhoods like Edgewater and Andersonville, you will be the visual voice of our Chicago rollout.
What You Will Do
- Create native, lo-fi TikTok and Instagram Reels content showing the user journey from the initial Pip interaction to the actual local meetup.
- Identify and directly message Chicago-based micro-influencers who focus on local lifestyle, food, or events to negotiate low-cost or trade-based partnerships.
- Attend early local meetups to capture candid photo and video content for marketing materials.
- Monitor local digital culture and emerging platform trends to identify relevant content opportunities for the Chicago market.
- Act as the direct bridge between our early Chicago users and the core product team by gathering raw feedback on the app and Pip's matching mechanics.
What You Bring
- Current enrollment at a Chicago university with a strong understanding of the local social landscape.
- A proven eye for capturing authentic social interactions and editing short-form video natively within TikTok and Instagram.
- An extroverted and relentless hustle. You must be completely comfortable direct messaging creators, pitching an idea, and striking up partnerships.
- Creative autonomy. You do not wait for a playbook to tell you what to do. You prefer to test wild ideas, measure what works, and double down on the winners.
What We Offer
- Academic Credit: We will gladly collaborate with your academic advisors and university requirements to ensure this internship fully qualifies for course credit.

- Real Launch Experience: Gain firsthand, unfiltered experience launching a consumer social product from the ground up in a major US market.

What We Do
Pulse is building the future of friendship. We’re an app that helps people make new friends in their city and actually meet them IRL. Our AI matches people into small groups, helps them plan fun local activities, and nudges the group to keep meeting and turn first encounters into real friendships. Our focus is simple: hyperlocal connections, real-world experiences, and friendships that last beyond the screen.
Why Work With Us
Pulse is tackling a problem that’s becoming increasingly important: how do we build meaningful friendships in a world that’s more connected online but often feels more disconnected in real life? We’re building a new kind of social product around local communities, real-world experiences, and AI-powered matching.
