About Pulse We are building technology designed to get people off their screens and into the real world. Pulse is a consumer social platform that uses an AI facilitator named Pip to match local friend groups and coordinate real-world meetups. Following highly successful pilot programs with thousands of early signups, we are officially launching in Chicago this autumn. We are an agile team of repeat founders looking to build massive local density.
The Role We need a highly connected and energetic Campus Growth Hacker to lead our organic user acquisition across Chicago university campuses. You will be our boots on the ground. Your objective is to create viral moments, infiltrate student social networks, and build our initial user base from zero to one within your university.
What You Will Do
- Design and execute high visibility guerrilla marketing campaigns across campus and surrounding student housing.
- Partner directly with student organizations, fraternities, sororities, and clubs to use Pulse for their upcoming social events and mixers.
- Create and optimize customized referral loops to drive viral organic growth among the student body.
- Seed the product authentically within campus digital channels including Discord servers, Reddit communities, and large group chats.
- Act as the direct bridge between our early Chicago users and the core product team by gathering raw feedback on the app and AI mechanics.
What You Bring
- Current enrollment at a Chicago university.
- Deep involvement in campus life and a sharp understanding of exactly how your peers communicate, organize, and make social plans.
- An extroverted and relentless hustle. You must be completely comfortable walking up to strangers, pitching an idea, and striking up partnerships.
- Creative autonomy. You do not wait for a playbook to tell you what to do. You prefer to test wild ideas, measure what works, and double down on the winners.
What We Offer
- Academic Credit: We will gladly collaborate with your academic advisors and university requirements to ensure this internship fully qualifies for course credit.
- Elite Mentorship: Work directly with a founding team that has a track record of scaling consumer marketplaces to millions in revenue and securing venture funding.
- Real Launch Experience: Gain firsthand, unfiltered experience launching a consumer social product from the ground up in a major US market.
- Flexible Schedule: We offer fully flexible working hours designed around your class and exam schedule.
- Autonomy and Budget: You will have a dedicated budget to execute your best marketing concepts.

What We Do
Pulse is building the future of friendship. We’re an app that helps people make new friends in their city and actually meet them IRL. Our AI matches people into small groups, helps them plan fun local activities, and nudges the group to keep meeting and turn first encounters into real friendships. Our focus is simple: hyperlocal connections, real-world experiences, and friendships that last beyond the screen.
Why Work With Us
Pulse is tackling a problem that’s becoming increasingly important: how do we build meaningful friendships in a world that’s more connected online but often feels more disconnected in real life? We’re building a new kind of social product around local communities, real-world experiences, and AI-powered matching.
