Project Manager I (SLS)

Job Summary: Bosch Building Technologies is seeking a Project Manager to lead fire alarm and life safety installation projects for Commercial Installations. In this role, you will own projects from pre-booking through closeout, managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and customer communication to deliver high-quality results. You'll coordinate internal field teams and subcontractors, drive accurate forecasting and timely billing, control change orders, and build strong customer relationships while protecting project financial performance.

Responsibilities:

Project Initiation (Pre-Booking)

• Define project purpose, scope, goals, key objectives, and deliverables.
• Identify stakeholders and the internal and external team members needed for success.
• Develop preliminary timelines and cost estimates.
• Review proposal language to identify risks, exclusions, and unknowns before booking.

Project Planning (Post-Booking)

• Contact the customer within 24 hours of job booking to review scope and set expectations.
• Develop the baseline project schedule, schedule of values, and payment schedule, and document agreed-upon schedules in writing.
• Clearly communicate scope to the project team and ensure a shared understanding of deliverables.
• Secure internal labor and subcontractor resources, and prepare the team to execute the scope.
• Order materials and track lead times to protect the schedule.
• Assess project risks and establish QA/QC protocols.

Project Execution

• Lead the project kickoff meeting and oversee site mobilization and startup.
• Drive the team to achieve deliverable milestones on schedule.
• Develop team member skills and promote safe work practices in the field.
• Track site activities, update the project schedule as needed, and keep timelines on track.
• Hold regular status meetings with the customer.
• Ensure subcontractors are executing their scope according to contract requirements.
• Submit customer invoices on time to prevent underbilling.

Project Monitoring & Controlling

• Evaluate project costs and control deviations from budget.
• Monitor installation activities and conduct regular site visits to verify quality workmanship from field teams and subcontractors.
• Control scope creep and process change orders promptly.
• Manage underbilling’s and invoice according to the payment schedule.
• Closely monitor budgets and forecasts, and proactively notify management of foreseeable challenges.

Project Closeout

• Complete all testing, commissioning, and punch list items.
• Deliver all required documentation to the customer, including warranty documents and as-builts.
• Submit final billing.
• Coordinate turnover of service agreement (TSA) opportunities to the sales team.
• Lead a Lessons Learned meeting with Sales and PSG to review project financials and execution.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Proven ability to work across departments to drive successful project execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading and working with diverse groups, including internal employees, customers, and external stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand others' perspectives and resolve issues creatively to achieve customer and employee satisfaction.
• Working knowledge of standard computer systems and business software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Military or technical trade school background.
• Experience in the fire alarm, security, or construction industry.
• Fiscal management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and procurement.
• Experience with project scheduling, reporting, and risk management.
• PMP certification highly preferred.
• NICET Level I certification (Fire Alarm Systems), or the ability to obtain it within 6–12 months of hire.

• Must be able to effectively communicate in English, (ie see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers 
• Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment 
• Sitting, standing, walking in office environments and construction sites 
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet) 

Working Conditions:

In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

• The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated.  Noise levels are considered low to moderate 
• Will be required to be on site with customers or contractors, with or without Paladin colleagues to manage the expectations and deliverables. Sites range from general office environments to new construction. 
• Driving to customer sites is required 
• Limited overnight travel may be required

• Working Hours: This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary
