We are seeking a Production Quality manager to work collaboratively with our Production teams to implement systems, processes, procedures and best practices that build in Quality into our spacecraft. This individual will develop, support, improve and sustain a robust Quality Management System and a Human Factors program. They will collaborate with Production leadership to strengthen Quality culture and accountability in our shop operations through a practical, risk-based approach. They will manage the shop audit program, analyze findings and non-conformance data, lead teams to determine root cause of defects and guide implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions. The Production Quality Manager will develop expertise in FOD prevention and Mistake Proofing and partner with multiple engineering teams to ensure these concepts are applied broadly and effectively in work instructions and production processes. They will routine report to executives on overall issue trends, causes, improvements and long-term strategic improvement plans that drive quality in conjunction productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve elements of a Quality Management System (QMS) complaint to AS9100 standards yet conducive to productivity and agility.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to develop policies, procedures and work instructions to progressively eliminate opportunities for operator error.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a Human Factors program including conducting training for shop teams, assessing effectives of existing safety nets and implementing improvements in collaboration with Production leadership to reduce opportunities for operator error.
  • Lead, enhance shop audit program, train auditors, analyze findings and non-conformance data for trends and risk, identify key issues for deeper investigation.
  • Lead and provide expertise in root cause corrective actions using methods like 8D for CAPA.
  • Lead and coach on methods like Six Sigma (DMAIC), leading cross functional improvement teams.
  • Develop effective process controls built into the core processes to detect and prevent issues.
  • Provide and develop in-process expertise in FOD prevention and Mistake Proofing methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain training and certification program for both technicians and calibration system for key equipment, fixtures and tools.
  • Create and maintain records management system.
  • Organize and conduct monthly management reviews to ensure effectiveness of QMS and Human Factors programs, improvement in Quality KPIs and proactive response to emerging trends and hold action owners accountable to commitments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing, improving Manufacturing and Supplier Quality collaboratively with production, engineering, and supplier teams.
  • Experience with an ISO 9001 or AS 9100 Quality Management System or similar standard.
  • Experience developing, managing quality metrics (KPIs) and using analysis to drive improvement actions.
  • Experience analyzing non-conformance data and driving improvements.
  • Experience with implementing Internal programs for audits, training, calibration.
  • Experience collaboratively developing talent in team and in larger organization.
  • Demonstrated skill with CAPA, 8D, DMAIC, Lean, or similar frameworks.
  • Demonstrated skill in dealing with ambiguity and a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Continuous learner with desire to upgrade personal and team skills by doing.
  • Structured thinker with ability to implement processes for speed and repeatability.
  • Experience with implementing a Human Factors program a plus.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience a plus
  • Product knowledge of satellites or space vehicles a plus.
