Job Description - Product Manager
BacklotCars is currently seeking a Product Manager to join our dynamic product team. We are an online marketplace for auto dealers and our platform is changing the way auto dealers buy/sell wholesale vehicles. As a Product Manager, you'll spearhead initiatives that help BacklotCars operate more efficiently and effectively.
What you'll do:

  • Capture market data, customer feedback, customer usage data, and other key information to develop product insights and help drive the product roadmap
  • Work directly with our accounting, transportation, finance, titles, and inspection teams to deeply understand their challenges and objectives.
  • Prioritize objectives and solutions based on impact to the business and development effort
  • Work with various teams to brainstorm solutions that will make large impacts in the business
  • Clearly define both major product features as well as small enhancements that will create a direct effect on the business and user experience
  • Maximize impact in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to iteratively scope, build, and launch initiatives
  • Research, write, and prioritize detailed user stories
  • Prioritize objectives and solutions based on impact to the business and development effort
  • Run product experiments to test major features
  • Define and implement KPIs related to marketplace health
  • Perform user research to deeply understand problems users face
  • Define success for each initiative and track to completion.
  • Work with various teams to brainstorm solutions that will make large impacts on the business
  • Explore third-party products that BacklotCars can integrate with to save development time


What you'll need:

  • 2-4 years of software product management experience.
  • Strong technical background and experience working directly with engineers
  • Ability to work well with multiple stakeholders including the ability to know when to take feedback and when to push back
  • Clearly communicate objectives, requirements, and success to remote teams.
  • Ability to absorb, synthesize, and relay a large amount of information about the industry and users
  • Clearly and effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences to cultivate strong working relationships, write meticulously, and continuously champion your products
  • Able to successfully work on a small team composed of product managers, UX designers, front-end/back-end engineers in an agile/lean software environment
  • Able to balance quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Strong UX judgment; ability to simplify the complex
  • Detail oriented and diligent when writing user stories, reviewing designs, brainstorming technical approach and testing
