Summary:

The Product Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, performance, lifecycle, and long-term sustainability of assigned credentialing or healthcare certification product portfolios at the National Registry of EMTs. The position gathers insights from candidates, certificants, customers, subject matter experts, market conditions, business performance, and internal teams to ensure assigned products remain relevant, valuable, financially sustainable, and aligned with the National Registry’s mission. This role serves as the strategic product owner for assigned external-facing products, balancing customer and candidate value, certification and assessment integrity, operational feasibility, technology enablement, market relevance, and enterprise priorities. The role partners across certification, assessment, finance, technology, marketing, and operations to define product direction, recommend investment priorities, monitor performance, and guide continuous improvement across the product portfolio.

This role supports the National Registry’s mission by ensuring its credentialing and certification products remain accessible, effective, and responsive to the evolving needs of the communities we serve. By partnering with candidates, certificants, customers, subject matter experts, and internal teams, the position helps translate research, user feedback, and performance data into stronger certification experiences and reliable methods of assessing clinical competence.

Through strategic product planning, continuous improvement, and responsible use of technology, the role strengthens the integrity, consistency, and effectiveness of the National Registry’s programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the strategic product owner for assigned credentialing or healthcare certification product portfolios, accountable for product strategy, portfolio performance, lifecycle management, and long-term sustainability within established governance structures.
  • Develop and maintain product portfolio strategies and roadmaps that reflect customer and candidate needs, market relevance, certification and assessment integrity, organizational priorities, and financial sustainability.
  • Lead continuous discovery with candidates, certificants, customers, subject matter experts, employers, educators, and internal teams to identify opportunities to improve product value, usability, relevance, and outcomes.
  • Define product direction, priorities, and success measures; make or recommend product decisions related to strategy, roadmap priorities, customer experience, pricing, investment, lifecycle changes, and product improvements in partnership with executive leadership and applicable governance groups.
  • Use customer behavior, product usage data, market insights, financial measures, operational metrics, and assessment outcomes to evaluate product effectiveness and inform prioritization decisions.
  • Establish and monitor product success measures spanning customer and candidate experience, market adoption, product performance, financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and the quality and value of the credential or assessment.
  • Collaborates with team members to create reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into product adoption, engagement, business performance, operational performance, customer experience, and product outcomes.
  • Collaborate across certification, assessment, psychometrics, finance, technology, marketing, operations, customer experience, and executive leadership to align product priorities and resolve competing enterprise needs.
  • Translate approved product priorities into clear requirements, service expectations, operating impacts, and implementation plans in partnership with technology teams, operational leaders, external developers, vendors, consultants, and other delivery partners.
  • Support the development and adoption of enterprise product thinking across the organization, including portfolio planning, stakeholder alignment, prioritization, lifecycle management, and outcome-based product governance.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, information systems, education, assessment, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in product management, portfolio management, program management, service-line management, business strategy, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a complex external-facing product, service, program, or portfolio throughout its lifecycle, including discovery, strategy, roadmap development, prioritization, launch, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience using customer insights, market needs, financial considerations, operational impacts, and performance data to shape product or service strategy and investment priorities.
  • Experience developing business cases, evaluating product performance, supporting pricing or revenue decisions, or partnering with finance leaders on product or service sustainability.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams that include certification, assessment, technology, operations, marketing, finance, subject-matter experts, and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a complex external-facing product or service in credentialing, certification, assessment, healthcare, professional licensing, regulated industries, standards-driven environments, or another comparable domain.
  • Highly preferred: deeper familiarity with credentialing standards, accreditation requirements, examination development, psychometrics, certification maintenance, continuing competency, or similar assessment-based product environments.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10 nights per year.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including public speaking and ability to influence without authority
  • Strong business acumen, product judgment, organizational/time management, adaptability, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in an office environment
  • Ability to travel approximately 10 nights per year
