As Design Director, Social, you lead design and strategy for our immersive co-experience platform. You will lead all aspects of a team that designs and builds end-to-end social products for our core Player app, working collaboratively with other senior leaders across product, research, data science and engineering to define social first experiences for our immersive platform experiences across mobile, desktop, 10ft, XR, wearables and beyond. These social experiences span different verticals: communications, connections and communities.
You'll help define UX strategy, future vision, goals, success metrics, roadmap, and sprint commitments. As an inspirational design leader, you will be a beacon of design excellence, pushing boundaries, partnering and coaching versatile designers to build an industry leading metaverse platform.
In this is a high visibility role, you'll make an impact that sparks imagination and enables players around the world to enjoy incredible experiences on Roblox at a time of sustained growth for our business.(3-5 sentences about the team and role. Remember to add who the candidate will report to.)
You Will:
- Lead a team that's creating outstanding user experiences for a diverse global audience through seamless cross-product journeys across the Roblox ecosystem.
- Grow, coach and supervise design led innovation, leading your design team to envision 0to1 social experiences and delightful interactions that align with our mission.
- Drive the design vision & strategy, exploration, invention, research, and development of how users will interact with and co-experience in the metaverse.
- Work with groups and leaders across Roblox to ensure delightful user interactions for all Roblox core social use cases on all surface areas.
- Present design strategy to team, group and executive leaders.
- Bring a fresh perspective and your industry skills, inspiring and enhancing how our design studio works and grows in their design craft.

You Have:
- (10+ years of Product Design experience shipping high quality, delightful consumer apps across multiple channels, especially finding unique solutions for social interactions.
- Experience leading user-experience and design teams, especially those that build creative human-computer interaction paradigms.
- Deep experience shaping product strategy, project management, technical ideas, and all things necessary to achieve business objectives.
- Experience in leading teams that ideate through rapid prototyping, design ideation, and driving cross-functional teams to invent creative social first experiences.
- Expertise in user interactions juggling many technical, product, and policy requirements across many teams, features, and device platforms regularly overcoming roadblocks.5-6 bullet points highlighting key qualifications and experience necessary and any preferred qualifications desired for the role)
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$348,660—$415,260 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
