Process Control Engineer II
The Honeywell LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) Organization is devoted to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers in the energy industry. We are uniquely positioned to utilize our world-class liquefaction technology to develop cutting-edge end-to-end solutions for the LNG industry, providing full plant engineered offerings to our customers. To support this growing demand, we are seeking a talented Process Controls Engineer to contribute to the development of our next-generation offerings.
As a Process Controls Engineer at Honeywell, you will use your knowledge of LNG processes and control system implementation to help Honeywell deliver equipment and plant designs to the global LNG market. You will work under Honeywell LNG Engineering management in a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for development of plant system designs and control architecture based on our proprietary liquefaction technology.
You will contribute to the development of Honeywell LNG’s end-to-end solutions by designing, testing, and validating process control systems. - Define control system functional requirements and collaborate with PLC and DCS programming teams to translate process requirements into robust control logic and operator interfaces.
- Design, evaluate, and implement advanced control strategies for LNG processes to improve stability, efficiency, throughput, operability, and equipment protection.
- Analyze process and control system data to identify performance gaps, troubleshoot dynamic process behavior, tune control loops, and recommend control strategy improvements.
- Plan and execute control system functional testing, simulation, Factory Acceptance Testing, and integrated system testing in coordination with project and programming teams.
- Provide onsite startup and commissioning support, including control loop checkout, logic validation, sequence testing, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and transition to stable plant operation.
- Deliver aftermarket customer training on control system operation, process response, alarm management, troubleshooting, and effective use of implemented control strategies.
- Support aftermarket customers through remote and onsite technical assistance, process data evaluation, control system optimization, and implementation of control strategy upgrades.
- Work with Process Engineering, Process Systems, Safety Engineering, Startup and Commissioning, and project teams to ensure the controls scope supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
- Develop, maintain, and apply internal controls engineering standards, practices, specifications, and reusable design methods consistent with customer and industry requirements.
- Review customer and project specifications, identify exceptions or areas requiring clarification, and communicate technical recommendations and risks.
- Prepare and maintain process controls documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including test procedures, test records, commissioning plans, operating guidance, and technical reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve control system designs, engineering workflows, standard solutions, and plant performance.
- Provide backup support, as needed, to the team’s separate I&E engineering role for approximately 10% to 20% of the position, including review and support of I&E design and implementation activities and participation in Factory Acceptance Testing of fabricated modules.
