Pomelo Care is the leading virtual medical practice for women and children, providing care across pregnancy, postpartum, pediatrics, menopause, and perimenopause. We combine proactive, 24/7 clinical care with technology that helps us reach patients earlier, identify risks sooner, and deliver personalized care throughout their journey. Our team includes clinicians, technologists, operators, and problem-solvers working together to make high-quality care more accessible for families nationwide.
About The RoleYour North Star: Use technology to ensure our payer partnerships are successful, so that every payer we work with sees Pomelo deliver on its promise quickly and credibly.
We're looking for a versatile, high-ownership Senior Product Manager to join our Payer Solutions team. When Pomelo signs a payer or employer partner, a lot has to happen before patients get care and before the partner sees results: we exchange and integrate data, define who is eligible and how we reach them, launch outreach, stand up the operational and clinical workflows, and build the reporting (including statistical analyses) that shows the program is working. You will work on every aspect of this.
This is a deliberately broad role for a fast learner who wants to understand how a healthcare company actually works, from eligibility files and claims feeds to patient outreach to value storytelling. You will not specialize in one of those areas. You will move across all of them, carry a problem from "the payer sent us a file" to "the payer renewed because we proved our value using numbers," and build the playbook so the next launch is faster than the last.
You'll sit at the intersection of engineering, data, clinical operations, growth, and customer success, and you'll be the connective tissue that makes each partnership work. Your work directly shapes how quickly we can launch, how many eligible patients we reach, and how partners understand Pomelo's value.
What you'll doYou’ll touch anything and everything payer-facing, so no two days will look the same. This will likely include:
Run the launch plan for new payers or employer partners: scope the work, set the timeline, track dependencies across teams, and be the single technical person who knows where every workstream stands and what is blocking it.
Translate contract terms into our technical stack, such as who is eligible, which cohorts launch when, which benefits apply, and which markets and populations are in scope.
Decide what you do yourself and what belongs with a downstream team, then make the handoff clean.
Define what success looks like for each partner, build the reporting and dashboards that track it, and present results in partner reviews.
Each launch should teach us something. Turn what you learn into standard processes, templates, data checks, and product requirements so that implementations get faster, less manual, and less error-prone over time.
Hold yourself to measurable goals, such as time to launch, data quality, eligible population reached, enrollment, partner satisfaction, and renewal.
4+ years of relevant experience across product management, implementation, solutions, operations, analytics, strategy, or consulting, including a track record of owning cross-functional projects from start to finish.
You pick up new domains quickly and enjoy it. You are as happy reading a claims file layout as you are drafting an outreach plan or preparing a partner readout, and you can switch between them in the same day.
You bring structure to ambiguity, run many workstreams in parallel, and keep cross-functional partners aligned without losing momentum. People trust that if you own it, it will get done.
You know the difference between a problem you should solve yourself and one that needs a specialist team, and you can tell quickly which is which. When you hand something off, the receiving team gets a crisp brief, not a vague request, and you keep following through until it ships.
You can take an analysis from our data team, understand its assumptions and limits, decide what it means for a partner, and act on it. You ask sharp questions, you notice when a chart does not match what you expected, and you never present a number you cannot explain.
You can explain data-heavy and technical ideas to payer executives, clinicians, engineers, and operations teams, and you tailor the message to each. You write clearly and run a good meeting.
You quickly grasp what a partner actually cares about, and you focus the work on what will change their understanding and decisions.
You know how to get things done under tight constraints, make tough tradeoffs, and get scrappy when needed without sacrificing rigor or quality.
You have a deep passion for improving maternal and infant health in the US, and empathy for the unique needs and challenges faced by expecting and new parents, especially lower-income families.
Experience in healthcare, particularly in value-based care, payer or employer partnerships, or a modern care delivery setting.
Familiarity with healthcare data such as eligibility and roster files, medical claims, or notifications of pregnancy, and with concepts like attribution, risk adjustment, or outcomes measurement.
Experience implementing or onboarding enterprise customers, especially where data integration was part of the launch.
Experience at a startup, especially during a period of rapid growth.
Familiarity with SQL or similar tools. You will not be expected to write queries, but being able to explore a dataset yourself or check a result before a partner review will make you faster and more self-sufficient.
The expected base salary range offered for this role is $180,000 - $210,000. This role is also eligible for equity, giving you an ownership stake in Pomelo’s mission. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications.
Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision coverage for employees and their families
High deductible Health Plans with Health Savings Account (HSA) options
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Equity grant participation
401(k) program
Competitive vacation policy
16 weeks paid parental leave
