Job Description

We’re seeking a Principal Engineer to join a technology team which is embedded with our Custom Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) business. In this position, you will work closely with Functional leads, business partners, developers, in the Technology team to create and deliver on our Financial Systems roadmaps.

This role will lead technical architects and developers and is responsible for technical delivery of the Finance Systems roadmaps as well as facing off with senior business and technology partners. Key Responsibilities / Duties:

·        A thought leader in large-scale distributed systems, microservices, web applications, databases, AWS, and its related technologies

·        Hands on builder, can execute and strive for efficiency without compromising quality; capable of diving in and getting hands on where needed to keep technical development on track

·        Create / Review detail solution design and validate that the holistic solution against design principles and client’s business outcomes

·        Plan, lead and run solution design workshops to assess business, strategic and operational requirements and shape the solution using Invesco technologies

·        Define design principles, and assess different solution options in context of business requirements and provide solution recommendations

·        Provide day to day support and troubleshooting of user and application problems within a specific business area

·        In partnership with Architects across OneTech team, you will be responsible for defining, designing and implementing the right long-term architecture for the portfolio.

·        Promote the right engineering and operational excellence principles – DevOps, Agile delivery; reduce technical debt while improving the speed and quality of delivery.

·        Perform quality assurance testing inclusive of unit, systems, integration and regression testing, and support the development of automated test scripts to be used to automate regression testing

·        Participate in new product reviews, tests and pilots, and be part of software selection

·        Document system functions and cross functional processes

·        Provide consulting support on processes and systems issues

·        Analyze the requirements, document and review solution design documents

·        Identify operational inefficiencies, conflicting business practices and integration issues. Apply judgment and consulting skills to arrive at the optimal solution

·        Integrate project activities with Quality Assurance and Software Development teams to ensure successful implementation and support of projects

·        Foster and maintain productive relationships with internal teams and business partners.

·        Support training and education of business partners regarding new applications, business processes, and systems support processes.

·        Develop test strategy and author test plans as required for application releases, enhancements and patches.

Work Experience / Knowledge:

·        8-10 years experience in Application Development, engineering, implementing and supporting enterprise solutions

·        Advanced experience in Python, Git, Bitbucket Pipelines

·        AWS Experience (Lambda, S3, EKS, SQS)

·        Experience Docker, Kubernetes or Helm

·        Experience with scheduler technologies eg Autosys, Airflow etc

·        Experience with third-party libraries, APIs, and ESB/EDI technologies (MuleSoft, etc.)

·        Superior verbal and written communication - presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating operations with technology skills.

·        Demonstrated experience through all phases of the technology life cycle, including project planning, analysis, design, architecture, build/configuration, testing and operational transition

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – high level of motivation, work-ethics and self-starting attitude

·        Be product agnostic and is willing to learn, implement and maintain other financial applications as necessary

·        Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to effectively develop and present materials that are appropriate for the audience.

·        Understanding of Finance and Accounting business processes to help bridge the gap between requirements and technical solutions is a plus

·        Able to work in a global, multicultural environment

·        Structured, focused approach to work, with attention to detail

·        Proactive and capable of working with little or no supervision
