Job Title: P&C Account Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Assigned Regional Team Lead

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Job Summary: The P&C Account Manager supports the growth and retention of the agency’s property and casualty portfolio by delivering high-quality service and operational support. This role partners with producers and team members to assist with new business, maintain existing accounts, and ensure accurate and timely processing of policy changes, claims, and renewals. The Account Manager serves as a key point of contact for clients, providing guidance on coverage options, addressing risk exposures, and identifying opportunities to enhance protection based on client needs.

Essential Functions:

Job Specific:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients by responding to questions, resolving concerns, and processing policy changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyze client risk exposures and recommend appropriate property and casualty coverages, including home, auto, liability, and related policies.
  • Generate and present insurance quotes by gathering risk information, working with carriers, and structuring appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Partner with producers to support new business development and identify opportunities to expand coverage for existing clients.
  • Process endorsements, renewals, and policy updates, ensuring accuracy and compliance with carrier and agency requirements.
  • Review policies for accuracy and identify potential coverage gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Assist clients through the claims process by gathering information, submitting claims, and providing ongoing communication until resolution.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date client files, including policies, applications, renewals, and related documentation.
  • Complete administrative and operational tasks such as data entry, document preparation, correspondence, and policy packaging.
  • Monitor the status of applications, claims, renewals, and endorsements, proactively addressing delays or issues.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of insurance products, carrier guidelines, and industry trends through continuing education and professional development.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall client experience.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support agency operations.

  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and attitude, maintaining confidentiality and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Provide timely assistance and support to both co-workers and customers, ensuring exceptional service and accurate information.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to The First State Way by upholding First State’s customer service standards in all interactions, fostering positive relationships with both external customers and internal team members.
  • Adhere to regular attendance, punctuality, and break schedules.
  • Take responsibility for personal actions and be accountable for performance.
  • Promote and cross-sell company services while participating in training opportunities as required.
  • Remain vigilant and knowledgeable about crisis procedures, including emergency protocols such as robbery.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulations, and report any concerns to Human Resources or upper-level management immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent insurance industry experience.
  • Current Nebraska Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance license required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
  • Prior insurance or customer service experience preferred.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license required.

Physical Demands:

  • Engage in routine physical activities such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to read reports and use a computer effectively.
  • Lift and carry items up to 30 pounds daily, including file boxes and office supplies.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting.
  • Occasional travel by car to visit other company locations may be required.
  • Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work to achieve established goals.
