TransFICC is hiring a Network Infrastructure Engineer to provide high-performance, low-latency connectivity to our customers. We develop an integration service product that enables our clients to have a flexible, hosted service without requiring their internal resources to respond to connectivity challenges across trading venues.
You will be joining our SRE team and contributing to TransFICC’s culture of automation. We are a multi-disciplinary team covering everything from desktop and laptop support to data centre provisioning of servers and vendor network connectivity.
We all have areas we are stronger in, but we all share responsibility for the entire environment. We are seeking someone like-minded who can contribute to our team while also learning from us.
About the Role – Your mission will be:
Research, design, deploy, and support new and existing networks, including network hardware vendors, routing/switching, low-latency technologies, telco circuits, and data centre connectivity.
Network as Code: Develop new features, new automation and observability, and push to network new configurations and features to support our business. Ansible, Terraform.
Support the network and the wider infrastructure.
Interact with network vendors and circuit providers.
Plan work in data centres.
What we are looking for:
Need to know how to code. You don’t need to be an expert, but basic programming in your language of choice is required - you need to be able to build a program.
Everything we configure at TransFICC is automated, so having experience with a software automation tool like Ansible and coding ability is a must.
We are looking for someone experienced as a sys admin or network engineer; however, you must have a reasonable understanding of both.
Constructive, open-minded and self-motivated. A belief in life learning, and an awareness of how much there still is to learn.
Appreciate autonomy and be able to take the initiative.
Experience managing 3rd parties via email and phone, negotiating with vendors, purchasing hardware and enabling remote work.
Ideally you would have some of the following:
Experience in low-latency network technologies: TCP/IP, Multicast (IGMP, PIM), L2/L3, and WAN.
Experience in deploying and supporting routing protocols such as BGP, EVPN.
Experience with Arista or Cumulus Linux.
Understanding of Firewall technologies, design, and vendors; and how to automate them.
Coding experience with Python and Bash scripting to automate tasks.
Knowledge of Ansible and Terraform to automate configuration deployment.
Experience with Linux, both from an admin point of view and on the command line.
Experience in writing tests in Robot Framework.
Well versed in observability and alerting stacks: Elastic, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Grafana
Experience in troubleshooting system or network issues, tcpdump, wireshark, strace.
Skills Required
- Basic programming ability in a language of choice
- Experience with a software automation tool such as Ansible
- Experience as a systems administrator or network engineer
- Reasonable understanding of both systems administration and network engineering
- Experience managing third parties, vendors, hardware purchasing, and remote work enablement
- Experience with low-latency networking, TCP/IP, multicast, L2/L3, and WAN
- Experience deploying and supporting BGP and EVPN routing protocols
- Experience with Arista or Cumulus Linux
- Understanding of firewall technologies, design, vendors, and automation
- Python and Bash scripting experience
- Knowledge of Ansible and Terraform
- Linux administration and command-line experience
- Experience writing tests in Robot Framework

What We Do
TransFICC is an e-trading technology company, providing connectivity and workflow solutions for banks and asset managers operating in the Fixed Income and Derivatives markets. Its "One API for eTrading" product provides clients with an alternative to maintaining connectivity with multiple e-trading venues. By delivering low-latency, scalable and secure connectivity, TransFICC resolves the issues of market fragmentation, market data throughput, and increased regulation. TransFICC does three things: - It translates Execution Venue API’s to a single API. Clients connect once to TransFICC's unified API, and TransFICC manages connectivity with the electronic venues from that point. - It uses low-latency, scalable and secure technology, essential to keep pace with price updates and not get beaten to a trade by high frequency trading firms. - It provides timestamps for price and order messages. Measured in microseconds, timestamps record when data arrives at the bank or asset manager, helping to provide an audit trail, which supports Best Execution.
