NDE Assistant

Position Summary
The NDE Assistant assists NDE Technicians in performing specific calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations. The NDE Assistant receives both on-the-job and classroom training and development to advance their career toward becoming an NDE Technician.
Responsibilities

Set up and use nondestructive testing equipment.

Assist NDE Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment.

Assist NDE Technicians in conducting tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDE methods of inspection.

Record results of inspections.

Assist Technicians in performing NDT procedures and other operations.

Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Conditions of Employment

Complete and pass a DISA background check.

Complete and pass a urine/alcohol drug screen.

Complete and pass site-specific safety council training.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine motor skills (finger dexterity), feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision.

Move, carry, and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds.

Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet.

Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time.

Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.

Work in and near industrial hazards.
