The Strategist turns marketing and customer experience needs into scalable journeys, workflows, audience segments, triggered communications, and personalized experiences. The role drives the delivery and optimization of assigned marketing journeys while coordinating cross-platform requirements and dependencies with relevant business and technology partners.

Primary Functions:

Marketing Automation Strategy & Execution

  • Design, build, test, document, maintain, and optimize assigned marketing automation journeys while coordinating decisions, dependencies, and approvals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Translate business and journey strategies into scalable marketing automation platform requirements, audience definitions, business rules, and measurement plans.
  • Support automation across customer, advisor, and partner lifecycles while balancing immediate needs with long-term scalability, governance, deliverability, and customer experience.

Marketing Journey Strategy

  • Develop scalable lead, customer, and relationship-based marketing journeys.
  • Facilitate discovery and journey-mapping sessions for assigned marketing journeys to identify stakeholder needs, friction points, handoffs, and automation opportunities.
  • Translate customer, advisor, and partner needs into qualification criteria, required fields, routing logic, and nurture strategies within the marketing automation platform.
  • Design connected experiences across leads, travelers, travel advisors, and partner organizations while reducing duplicate or conflicting communications.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to translate business needs into clear marketing, data, audience, trigger, field, acceptance, and system requirements for the teams responsible for CDP, integrations, analytics, and other marketing technologies.
  • Identify and document marketing use-case gaps involving data availability, quality, timing, identity, consent, or connectivity, and coordinate resolution with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Represent marketing requirements in solution-design discussions, support field-mapping reviews, and coordinate resolution of data, integration, or platform issues with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Create concise journey maps, workflow diagrams, requirements, decisions, process documentation, and SOPs that support implementation and maintenance.

Governance, Measurement & Optimization

  • Apply and help evolve marketing automation governance standards while following applicable data, privacy, CRM, and technology requirements.
  • Define acceptance criteria; conduct or coordinate functional QA and business UAT; and monitor for conflicting workflows, unintended enrollment, duplicate communications, and marketing-use-case data issues.
  • Define journey success measures with Analytics and use approved reporting to improve performance, personalization, operational efficiency, and customer or partner outcomes.
  • Promote a test-and-learn approach and evaluate practical applications of AI and emerging marketing technologies based on customer value, feasibility, data readiness, governance, risk, and scalability.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing automation, marketing technology, CDP, lifecycle marketing, customer journey management, or a related field, including experience supporting complex and varied marketing journeys. HubSpot experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and optimizing marketing automation journeys and workflows, with strong knowledge of segmentation, enrollment and suppression rules, lifecycle management, routing, personalization, and triggered communication
  • Working knowledge of CRM, customer data platforms, analytics, consent, data governance, and integration concepts is preferred.
  • Experience translating business needs into functional requirements, data requirements, process flows, use cases, acceptance criteria, and implementation-ready documentation.
  • Strong facilitation, systems-thinking, documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into hands-on execution while balancing governance, prioritization, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with email deliverability, QA, UAT, HTML/CSS, and practical applications of AI in marketing automation are preferred.
