RWDI is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Market Development Managers to grow our client base and market presence in India .
This is a business development and client acquisition role focused on finding new clients, building strong relationships, developing opportunities and winning new business. 
Working closely with regional leaders, technical specialists, business development coordinators and regional project delivery teams, you will identify market opportunities, develop relationships with prospective clients and connect their needs with RWDI’s engineering, environmental and consulting expertise.
You will be externally focused, spending significant time engaging with clients, developing industry networks, attending events and building a strong pipeline of opportunities.

Your primary objective will be simple: find new clients, build relationships, create opportunities and win new business for RWDI.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales
  • Identify and develop new clients, markets and business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and projects.
  • Proactively approach potential clients and secure meetings with key decision-makers.
  • Develop opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation and award.
  • Build long-term relationships that generate repeat and expanded business.
  • Develop and execute targeted business development plans for priority clients, markets and sectors.
  • Track opportunities and provide regular updates on pipeline development and conversion.
Client & Market Development
  • Build trusted relationships with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, infrastructure organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand clients’ businesses, upcoming projects, priorities and challenges.
  • Identify where client needs align with RWDI’s expertise and introduce the appropriate technical specialists.
  • Gather market intelligence on clients, competitors, projects and emerging opportunities.
  • Help expand RWDI’s presence across priority sectors, including, but not limited to, infrastructure, aviation, rail, roads and bridges, buildings and industry. 
Networking & Marketing
  • Actively build and maintain a strong professional network.
  • Represent RWDI at conferences, industry forums, networking events and client functions.
  • Support marketing initiatives that increase RWDI’s visibility within target markets.
  • Build awareness of RWDI’s capabilities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership, industry engagement and targeted client outreach.
Opportunity Development
  • Work closely with technical and regional leaders to develop compelling client solutions.
  • Support proposal strategy, positioning, presentations and commercial discussions.
  • Ensure clear continuity between early client conversations, proposals and project delivery.
  • Promote collaboration across RWDI disciplines and offices to bring the best expertise to clients.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are looking for someone who combines commercial drive, strong industry relationships and enough technical understanding to engage credibly with clients.
You will ideally bring:
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, client acquisition or market development within engineering, infrastructure, construction, architecture, environmental consulting or the broader built-environment sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify prospects, establish new relationships and convert opportunities into business.
  • A strong network within relevant industries would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience within infrastructure sectors such as aviation, rail, roads and bridges would be particularly valuable. 
  • Confidence approaching and engaging senior client decision-makers.
  • Strong networking skills and enthusiasm for developing new professional relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of professional consulting services.
  • Sufficient technical understanding to recognise client needs and bring the appropriate specialists into conversations.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, pitches, presentations and opportunity strategies.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A proactive, self-directed and results-focused approach.
  • Persistence, strong follow-through and personal accountability.
  • The ability to collaborate across disciplines, locations and cultures.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although equivalent relevant industry and commercial experience will be considered.
