Title - Manufacturing Technician IV
Location: Santa Clara, CA
Duration: 8+ Months contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (Onsite)
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Technician IV is responsible for advanced electro-mechanical assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support of robotic surgical system modules within the OTTAVA™ Surgical Robotics Manufacturing organization. The role supports manufacturing operations, process improvements, compliance activities, and technician training while ensuring adherence to FDA, GMP, GDP, and ISO 13485 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex electro-mechanical assembly and system integration of robotic subsystems and components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing procedures, and technical documentation to build and validate assemblies.
- Conduct electrical, mechanical, functional, and diagnostic testing using multimeters, torque tools, calibrated fixtures, and production software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, sensor, calibration, and integration issues.
- Document production activities, inspections, test results, rework, and material transactions in MES, ERP/SAP, and eDHR systems.
- Ensure compliance with ESD controls, GMP, GDP, ISO 13485, and FDA quality regulations.
- Perform in-process and final inspections and support rework activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Lead training, mentoring, and certification activities for Technicians I–III.
- Support audits, validation activities, NPI builds, process improvements, Kaizen events, and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Provide production line leadership and coordination when supervisors or line leads are unavailable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma with 6–8 years of manufacturing experience, or Associate Degree in Engineering/Mechatronics with 6–8 years of related experience.
- Strong electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience.
- Proficiency with multimeters, torque tools, calipers, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience with manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and production software.
- Knowledge of ESD controls and clean manufacturing environments.
- Experience mentoring, training, and supporting manufacturing teams.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) support experience.
- Participation in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement activities.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, and DMAIC.
