Position Summary
The Manufacturing Technician IV is responsible for advanced electro-mechanical assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support of robotic surgical system modules within the OTTAVA™ Surgical Robotics Manufacturing organization. The role supports manufacturing operations, process improvements, compliance activities, and technician training while ensuring adherence to FDA, GMP, GDP, and ISO 13485 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex electro-mechanical assembly and system integration of robotic subsystems and components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing procedures, and technical documentation to build and validate assemblies.
  • Conduct electrical, mechanical, functional, and diagnostic testing using multimeters, torque tools, calibrated fixtures, and production software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, sensor, calibration, and integration issues.
  • Document production activities, inspections, test results, rework, and material transactions in MES, ERP/SAP, and eDHR systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD controls, GMP, GDP, ISO 13485, and FDA quality regulations.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections and support rework activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Lead training, mentoring, and certification activities for Technicians I–III.
  • Support audits, validation activities, NPI builds, process improvements, Kaizen events, and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Provide production line leadership and coordination when supervisors or line leads are unavailable.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 6–8 years of manufacturing experience, or Associate Degree in Engineering/Mechatronics with 6–8 years of related experience.
  • Strong electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficiency with multimeters, torque tools, calipers, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and production software.
  • Knowledge of ESD controls and clean manufacturing environments.
  • Experience mentoring, training, and supporting manufacturing teams.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) support experience.
  • Participation in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, and DMAIC.

Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree in Engineering/Mechatronics
  • 6–8 years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • Proficiency with multimeters and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation and production software
