The ideal candidate will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and other engineers to develop and improve products and manufacturing processes.

This role will focus on mechanical design, manufacturability, tooling and fixtures, process development, prototyping, and troubleshooting. You’ll help bring new products from design to production, improve existing processes, and develop practical solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and cost. The role also includes developing and implementing testing methods to ensure product quality.

Representative Responsibilities:
• Performs assigned project tasks under direct supervision of more senior-level engineers.
• Participates in the development effort under the direction of management and more senior team members
• Makes design modifications or improvements to development projects with supervision
• Maintains project reference documentation.
• Develops test and verification procedures
• May be involved in continuing engineering maintenance and manufacturing floor support of existing products.
• Provides task completion time estimates.
• Becomes familiar with tools and applications utilized by department.
• Learns department and corporate policies, procedures and plans.
• Analyze and redesign products for improvements using design of experiments (DOE), finite element analysis (FEA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) or other engineering tools
• Analyze production processes; develop and implement process improvement plans
• Analyze, test and develop products and process improvements for cost reduction opportunities
• Develops and implements process standards with affected departments
• Assists in optimizing the layout and design of production processes and facilities
• Coordinates the setup and installation of production lines and equipment
• Complete ergonomic and human factor studies to improve the workstation and work environment.
• Complete job and task analysis studies and implement the improvements
• Assists in managing the release of products into manufacturing
• Ensures Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) are processed appropriately.
• Develops the manufacturing plan and its approval
• Assists in designing and developing new tools and jigs
• Ensures documentation is complete and accurate before product is released to production
• Ensures Bill of Materials (BOM) are structured appropriately are and accurate
• Ensures part numbers are assigned and new parts have accurate descriptions
• Uses Quick Response Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing and Lead-time reduction.
• Works with regulatory compliance agencies such as Underwriters Laboratory (UL), EPA, CE, OSHA on compliance and manufacturing related tasks
• Works with suppliers to ramp up production of parts and to resolve issues on existing parts.
• Uses Lean manufacturing tools including Value Stream Maps, 5S….etc
• Prepares supply chain maps and reports.
• Uses personal computer and computer controls to analyze and solve engineering problems
• Uses Solidworks CAD software to design engineering solutions
• Uses programming such as Labview, C++, databases for engineering solutions
• Uses electrical test equipment (i.e. voltmeter, scope, amp meter..etc) to analyze problems
• Uses mechanical test equipment (i.e. dial calipers, height gage..etc) to analyze problems
• Designs mechanical mechanisms to solve engineering problems.
• Applies knowledge in AC/DC motors, motor drives and controls to solve problems
• Understands CNC machining, CNC programming, metal fabrication and processing.

Minimum Qualifications: Grade and level to be determined, based on education and experience
• Technical Bachelor’s Degree
• All levels of previous job-related experience will be considered

Skills Required
