Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Manual QA Engineer with strong knowledge of both Software and Firmware testing to perform end-to-end testing of our products. The candidate should be comfortable working across application, embedded/firmware, hardware, and integration layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end manual testing covering both software and firmware components.
- Understand product requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and exploratory testing.
- Test firmware features, updates, configurations, and device behaviour.
- Validate communication and integration between firmware, hardware, and software applications.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and document defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting logs.
- Perform API, database, and UI validation wherever applicable.
- Execute firmware upgrade/downgrade and compatibility testing.
- Work closely with developers, firmware engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Participate in requirement reviews and provide inputs from a QA perspective.
- Maintain test execution reports and provide regular status updates.
- Support release validation and production readiness activities.
- Ensure adequate test coverage across different product versions, configurations, and environments.
Required Skills
- 5–8 years of experience in manual QA/Software Testing.
- Strong hands-on experience in Software and Firmware testing.
- Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, defect life cycle, and QA processes.
- Experience in functional, integration, system, regression, and E2E testing.
- Good understanding of embedded/firmware testing concepts.
- Experience testing device-to-software/application integrations.
- Good knowledge of API testing and basic database/SQL validation.
- Experience with defect management tools such as JIRA or similar.
- Ability to analyse logs and troubleshoot issues across software/firmware layers.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with embedded systems / IoT / connected devices.
- Knowledge of Linux/Windows environments.
- Exposure to communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, TCP/IP, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi.
- Experience with firmware flashing, device configuration, and upgrade testing.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python/Shell is an advantage.
- Exposure to automation/testing tools is a plus.
