Manhattan Active WM Technical Architect Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Technical Architect with hands-on expertise implementing MANHATTAN ACTIVE® WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT (Active WM) solutions.

The Technical Architect will serve as a key technical leader on Manhattan Active WM implementations, responsible for defining and governing the overall solution architecture and ensuring Active WM is successfully integrated with the client's enterprise technology ecosystem. This role works closely with client IT and business teams, Manhattan Associates, integration partners, and 4SIGHT functional and technical resources throughout the implementation lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines deep Manhattan Active WM technical knowledge with strong integration, API, cloud, data, and enterprise architecture experience and can translate business and functional requirements into scalable, supportable technical solutions.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one Manhattan Active WM implementation that has successfully gone live and is referenceable.
  • Experience working with Manhattan Active WM as a client resource, systems integrator, consultant, implementation partner, or former Manhattan Associates employee.
  • Deep understanding of Manhattan Active WM architecture, integration patterns, APIs, extensions, configuration, and technical capabilities.
  • Experience designing integrations between Active WM and enterprise systems such as ERP, OMS, TMS, WES/WCS, automation systems, robotics, material handling equipment, labor systems, parcel systems, and other supply chain applications.
  • Experience with REST APIs, web services, event-driven integration, messaging, JSON/XML, middleware and enterprise integration platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud-based/SaaS application architecture and the technical considerations associated with integrating cloud solutions into enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting system, integration, performance, regression, and end-to-end testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical and integration issues across multiple applications and technology platforms.
  • Understanding of data conversion, data migration, master data, transactional data, and interface reconciliation.
  • Experience with Manhattan Associates complementary products and broader Manhattan Active solutions is a plus.
  • Experience with warehouse automation, WES/WCS, robotics, conveyor systems, sortation, AS/RS, or other material handling technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker, collaborative team player, and self-starter.
  • Ability to take initiative, lead technical workstreams, and work efectively with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

    Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the Manhattan Active WM Technical Architecture domain expert and advocate for sound architecture and implementation practices.
  • Own and/or support the overall technical architecture for Manhattan Active WM implementations.
  • Define how Active WM integrates into the client's broader enterprise and supply chain technology landscape.
  • Develop and maintain solution architecture diagrams, system context diagrams, integration architecture, data flows, interface inventories, and other technical design documentation.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and recommend solutions that maximize the use of standard Manhattan Active capabilities while minimizing unnecessary customization and technical complexity.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural governance throughout design, build, testing, deployment, and production stabilization.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and ensure solutions conform to established architecture, security, integration, and supportability standards.
  • Integration Architecture
  • Define the end-to-end integration architecture between Manhattan Active WM and upstream/downstream applications.
  • Design and review API, event, message, batch, and other integration patterns.
  • Work with client and vendor technical teams to define interface specifications, mappings, error handling, monitoring, reconciliation, and recovery processes.
  • Ensure interfaces support required transaction volumes, performance expectations, operational resiliency, and business continuity requirements.
  • Coordinate integration dependencies across Manhattan Associates, client teams, third-party software providers, automation vendors, and systems integrators.
  • Support troubleshooting of complex integration issues and facilitate root-cause analysis across system boundaries.
  • Extensions & Technical Requirements
  • Partner with functional leads and client stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify requirements that cannot be satisfied through standard Active WM capabilities.
  • Evaluate technical gaps and determine appropriate solutions using supported Manhattan Active extensibility capabilities and integration patterns.
  • Translate functional requirements and GAP Analysis findings into detailed technical requirements and solution designs.
  • Develop or review technical specifications for approved extensions and integrations.
  • Ensure extensions follow Manhattan Active architecture principles and are designed to minimize impacts to scalability, maintainability, upgrades, and long-term support.
  • Coordinate technical requirements walkthroughs, design reviews, and client/vendor approvals.
  • Data Architecture & Migration
  • Define and support Active WM data requirements, including master data, configuration data, transactional data, and integration data.
  • Support data mapping and conversion activities between legacy systems and Active WM.
  • Develop or review data migration and conversion strategies.
  • Define validation and reconciliation processes to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
  • Support cutover planning related to data conversion, initial data loads, interface activation, and transaction synchronization.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Provide technical leadership for system integration testing, end-to-end testing, performance testing, regression testing, and production readiness.
  • Partner with functional and testing teams to translate integration and technical requirements into test scenarios and scripts.
  • Ensure testing validates complete business transactions across Active WM and integrated applications rather than individual interfaces in isolation.
  • Support defect triage and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with Manhattan Associates, client IT teams, integration partners, and third-party vendors to resolve technical defects.
  • Review testing results and technical quality metrics to assess production readiness.
  • Performance, Scalability & Reliability
  • Assess solution architecture for expected warehouse transaction volumes, peak processing requirements, interface throughput, and operational demands.
  • Identify potential architectural, integration, or performance risks before deployment.
  • Support performance and volume testing activities.
  • Work with Manhattan Associates and client technology teams to diagnose performance issues and develop appropriate remediation plans.
  • Ensure the overall solution is designed for scalability, reliability, recoverability, and operational support.
  • Deployment, Go-Live & Production Support
  • Develop and support the technical components of deployment and cutover plans.
  • Coordinate interface activation, data conversion, technical validation, and production readiness activities.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership during go-live and startup.
  • Lead or participate in technical command-center activities during deployment.
  • Troubleshoot integration, data, configuration, and system issues during startup.
  • Following go-live, provide production and hypercare support to stabilize the solution.
  • Facilitate root-cause analysis and ensure technical issues are transitioned appropriately to ongoing support organizations.
  • Document lessons learned and identify architectural or technical improvements for subsequent deployments.
  • Client & Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with client enterprise architects, application teams, infrastructure teams, integration teams, cybersecurity resources, warehouse operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Manhattan Associates technical and functional resources throughout implementation.
  • Partner with 4SIGHT Project Managers, Functional Leads, Configuration Consultants, Integration resources, Testing Leads, and Deployment teams.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, assumptions, and decisions and communicate them effectively to project leadership.
  • Mentor technical team members and provide guidance on Manhattan Active WM architecture and implementation practices.
