The Manager – Business Development / Strategic Initiatives will play a pivotal
role in driving MSC’s growth strategy in South East Asia and Pacific by leading
the development of high-quality proposals, concept notes, and thought
leadership pieces. The role involves cultivating strategic relationships with
clients and partners, positioning MSC as a trusted advisor, and ensuring a
strong pipeline of business opportunities across the region.
This is a client-facing role requiring strong communication, problem-solving,
and strategic thinking skills, with an ability to translate ideas into
actionable business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Proposals
- Lead the development of concept notes, expressions of interest (EOIs), and
proposals, ensuring high-quality, client-focused submissions.
- Work closely with technical teams to design solutions aligned with client needs
and MSC’s expertise.
- Manage the proposal development cycle end-to-end, including timelines,
coordination, budgeting inputs, and compliance.
Strategic Client Engagement
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key donors, governments, private
sector partners, and other stakeholders across South East Asia and the Pacific.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities by scanning donor priorities, tenders,
and market trends relevant to the region.
- Represent MSC at regional conferences, workshops, and client meetings,
positioning the firm as a thought leader.
Strategic Initiatives
- Support leadership in defining and executing new strategic initiatives,
including entry into emerging sectors, geographies, or thematic areas across
South East Asia and Pacific.
- Conduct research and market intelligence to inform MSC’s growth priorities.
- Draft and refine strategic communication materials such as corporate
presentations, practice brochures, and partnership proposals.
Internal Collaboration
- Work with cross-functional teams (technical, research, communications) to
strengthen MSC’s business development systems.
- Mentor junior staff in proposal writing and client engagement.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives.

Requirements
Qualification & Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy,
Development Studies, or related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in business development, consulting, or donor-funded
project environments.
- Demonstrated track record of winning proposals and cultivating donor/client
relationships.
- Strong understanding of donor priorities (e.g., World Bank, IFC, FCDO, USAID,
Gates Foundation, MCC, ADB), with experience in South East Asia and Pacific
preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to
synthesize complex ideas into clear narratives.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently and
proactively.
Skills Required
