Role Summary
We are seeking a Lead Engineer with extensive expertise in eCommerce architecture frameworks, particularly Microservices and Micro-frontend Architecture. You will lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance solutions for our cloud-hosted eCommerce platforms. This role requires collaboration with product managers, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to modernize systems and deliver exceptional business capabilities. 

As part of the eCommerce team, you will work with both business and technology teams to design and develop in-house data-driven solutions for complex decision-making problems using computer science, analytics, mathematical optimization, and machine learning. You will also work closely with product and program management to derive application requirements, set expectations, communicate progress and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:   
  • Lead the design and development of scalable full-stack applications using Java (Spring Boot) for the backend and React with TypeScript on the frontend   
  • Define system architecture patterns for distributed systems, ensuring resilience, scalability, and maintainability   
  • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration with messaging systems like Kafka, Solace, or Azure Event Hub   
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.   
  • Champion best practices in code quality, CI/CD, testing, and performance optimization   
  • Guide junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement   
  • Participate in architecture reviews, system design discussions, and capacity planning 


Requirements
Years of Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in an eCommerce and engineering lead role.
Minimum of 4 years of experience working with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms.

Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing distributed, event-driven architectures.
  • Proven experience working in cloud-native environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including deployment, scalability, and observability.
  • Experience with micro frontend, headless commerce platforms, and API gateway patterns in large-scale applications.
  • Solid understanding of database design (SQL and NoSQL), API design, and modern software engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of software by coding, debugging, troubleshooting, and supporting functionality throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Analyze, monitor, and improve the performance, scalability, and functionality of software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing strategies.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, modeling code quality and best practices, and contributing to the team’s technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing, deploying, and launching software products on public cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in React or Node.js.
  • Experience in retail and e-commerce solution development.
  • Experience building microservices and working with event-driven, cloud-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
  • Familiarity with secure application development practices.
  • Understanding of log analysis tools such as Splunk, including the ability to query logs and build dashboards as needed.
  • Experience with Azure services, Kubernetes/AKS, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven ability to take ideas from concept to delivery and explore a range of open-source technologies.
