We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist / Economist – Demand Forecasting to advance our ability to anticipate and interpret macro-driven demand shifts across ADI’s end markets.

This individual contributor role will analyze internal and external data to identify leading demand indicators, guide forecast biasing decisions, and translate model outputs into actionable business insights. The role will serve as a critical bridge between data science, supply chain planning, and FP&A to improve forecast quality and inform business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Macro & Market Demand Analysis:
  • Analyze internal (orders, backlog, bookings) and external datasets (macroeconomic indicators, industry trends, third-party data) to identify shifts in demand across end markets (e.g. Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Communications, Consumer, Data Centers, Energy, Healthcare, Industrial...)
  • Develop frameworks to quantify and incorporate macro signals into forecasting and scenario planning.
  • Identify leading indicators and structural changes to provide forward-looking insights on demand inflection points, risks, and opportunities.
  • Forecast Biasing & Business Insight:
  • Own and guide forecast biasing decisions by translating macro signals and analytical insights into actionable adjustments.
  • Partner with Planning, Business Units, and FP&A to align on demand outlook and key assumptions.
  • Support demand and scenario planning through data-driven market interpretation.
  • Model Interpretation & Explainability:
  • Interpret machine learning forecast outputs, clearly explaining drivers, assumptions, and limitations.
  • Translate complex analytical results into concise narratives for senior leadership.
  • Improve transparency, trust, and adoption of ML-driven forecasts.
  • Advanced Analytics & Data Integration:
  • Leverage statistical and machine learning techniques to enhance demand signal detection and forecast accuracy.
  • Partner with data science teams to improve model responsiveness and explainability for macro-driven demand shifts.
  • Integrate macroeconomic and market-derived signals into machine learning forecasting workflows, including feature engineering, model inputs, and post-model biasing processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Economics,  Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6–10+ years of experience in demand forecasting, economic analysis, or advanced analytics.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic concepts and industry demand drivers.
  • Experience applying macroeconomic or market insights within forecasting, planning, or analytics workflows.
  • Experience working with both internal operational data and external market datasets.
  • Proven ability to interpret analytical outputs and influence business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
  • Background in economics, market intelligence, or strategy analytics.
  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech industries.
  • Familiarity with forecasting and data platforms (SQL, Snowflake).
  • Experience working closely with Finance / FP&A on planning and outlook development.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $109,600 to $150,700.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
