We are seeking a high caliber individual for the Java Tech Lead role to join our rapidly growing global workforce in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Java Tech Lead will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of back-end software engineers as well as working together with program managers, software developers, quality assurance and user experience experts on the different aspects of the software development cycle. In this position, the key focus will lie on leveraging new technologies to enhance existing architecture. Someone who excels in this role will possess a sophisticated approach to software development and testing, intrinsic drive for growth, and commitment to our goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a team of software engineers, while keeping a constant pulse across departments to ensure the success of the team projects and goals
  • Define the architecture and technical design of system modules and services
  • Hands-on participation in the implementation of new modules and features
  • Analyze functional and non-functional requirements, design technical solutions and research third-party API specifications
  • Estimate work and time efforts, and plan the project execution accordingly
  • Actively troubleshoot reported issues
  • Build and utilize metrics to analyze features as they are deployed to Production to ensure they are functioning as expected
  • Work closely with product and business leaders to determine organization roadmap and build deliverables in accordance with timelines
  • Iterate with our UX, Product, Infrastructure, and Marketing teams in an agile environment to bring features from conception to launch
  • Manage engineer performance - leveraging strengths and eliminating weaknesses
  • Play a key role in the talent management employee cycle

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience, preferably within the Financial Services and/or FinTech industry
  • BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other IT related field
  • Strong proficiency with Java
  • Experience with relational databases, including MsSQL and MySQL
  • Experience with modern CI/CD tools, and automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, or similar
  • Proficiency with log monitoring and analytics tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, ELK stack, etc.
  • Experience in Linux environments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and multicultural environment
  • Strong management and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Experience in creating strong and passionate operations culture which is customer-focused and quality-driven
  • Ability to process complex problems quickly and come up with functional solutions 
  • Excellent command of the English language
