IT Systems Officer

The IT Systems Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of the company's IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, networks, software applications, and providing technical assistance to end-users. This role ensures the stability, security, and efficiency of IT systems to support the company's e-commerce operations and business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows, Linux), operating systems, software applications, and other IT infrastructure components.

• Network Management: Assist in the management and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, CCTV and Wi-Fi access points.

• Technical Support: Provide first-level technical support to employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving network connectivity problems, and assisting with application usage.

• Monitoring and Maintenance: Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and perform preventative maintenance tasks, including system backups, security updates, and performance tuning.

• Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect the company's data and systems from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches. Follow security protocols and best practices.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user manuals.

• Vendor Management: Liaise with IT vendors for hardware/software procurement, maintenance, and support.

• Project Support: Contribute to IT projects by assisting with implementation, testing, and user training.

• Inventory Management: Track and manage IT hardware and software inventory.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) are a plus.

• Proven experience (3+ years) in IT systems administration, preferably in an e-commerce or retail environment.

• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server administration.

• Experience with network administration and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with common software applications used in business environments.

• Understanding of IT security principles and practices.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required but a Plus):

• Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento).

• Knowledge of database administration.

• Experience with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

• ITIL or other IT service management framework knowledge.
