Job Summary
The Inside Automation and Control Specialist supports the design, programming, installation, and maintenance of industrial control and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial networks. This role partners closely with automation specialists, field sales teams, and customers to support technical solution development, troubleshooting, project coordination, and system implementation.
This position serves as a technical resource for automation products and applications, assisting with documentation, training, and customer support while helping drive automation sales growth and customer success. The role plays a key part in ensuring automation solutions are configured, supported, and delivered effectively across CES teams and customer environments.
Essential Job Functions
- Helps to develop and configure PLC/HMI/SCADA systems while integrating VFDs, servo drives, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet).
- Helps to install, test, and start up new control systems and modifications, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
- Helps to diagnose and resolve complex electrical/control issues while minimizing downtime for PLCs, instruments, and networks.
- Help provide technical training, support, and expertise to operators and technicians, acting as a liaison for customers.
- Acts as a center of excellence for the industrial automation sales and support teams.
- Satisfactorily maintains all fixed assets and equipment, keeping them in a positive working condition.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- Experience assisting with the design, configuration, installation, or troubleshooting of industrial automation and control systems.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, servo drives, and related automation technologies.
- Familiarity working with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Fanuc, ABB, or comparable automation platforms.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, SCADA, and DCS integrated systems.
- Understanding of industrial control system fundamentals and safety standards.

- Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, DCS).
