Job Title: Human Resources Manager – Uganda

Brief Job Description:
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading and executing HR strategies to support business objectives within the pharmaceutical industry. This role requires a seasoned HR professional with a strong background in talent management, employee relations, HR compliance, and organizational development. The HR Manager will drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and overall workforce efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent.
Develop and implement structured onboarding programs to facilitate seamless integration of new hires.
Partner with department heads to forecast workforce needs and develop hiring strategies.
2. Employee Relations & Engagement
Act as the primary HR contact for employees, providing guidance on HR policies and conflict resolution.
Develop and implement employee engagement programs to enhance workplace culture and productivity.
Mediate workplace disputes and ensure a positive and collaborative work environment.
3. HR Compliance & Policy Implementation
Ensure compliance with Ugandan labor laws and industry-specific regulations.
Develop, update, and enforce HR policies to align with legal and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and maintain documentation for internal audits and inspections.
4. Performance Management & Learning Development
Implement performance management frameworks to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Develop and oversee training and development programs, ensuring employees' professional growth.
Monitor employee progress and provide recommendations for career development and succession planning.
5. Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems
Manage payroll, benefits administration, and other compensation-related activities.
Oversee HRIS (Human Resource Information System) to ensure accuracy in employee records and reporting.
Conduct periodic salary benchmarking and benefits analysis to remain competitive in the industry.
6. Workforce Planning & Organizational Development
Analyze workforce data to inform strategic HR decisions and optimize operational efficiency.
Develop initiatives that foster talent retention, succession planning, and leadership development.
Collaborate with leadership to align HR strategies with business goals.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in HR leadership roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
Registered and licensed with HRMAU.
Strong knowledge of Ugandan labor laws and HR best practices.
Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office Suite.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Desirable:
Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CIPD, SHRM).
Experience in change management and organizational development.
Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
