We're hiring an HPC Sr Staff Engineer, Test Jig Core Technology Development for a global semiconductor company developing flagship automotive SoCs — large-scale chips integrating CPU, cache, memory, high-speed interfaces, AI, video, functional safety, and security — powering the intelligence and electrification of next-generation vehicles.
About the role
In the automotive sector's New Product Introduction (NPI) area, optimizing test quality and test costs with a view to products to be released several years from now is a crucial challenge. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate, select, and evaluate new technologies and test equipment, and to establish test methodologies applicable to future products as part of the company's DCP (Design/Development Control Process).
These efforts are essential for differentiating ourselves from competitors, ensuring competitiveness, and promoting DIN (Design Inventory) to a superior position.
This field requires not only the development of test technologies but also comprehensive solutions encompassing equipment selection and cost management. Therefore, engineers in this role need extensive experience and knowledge in various areas, including test technology, product understanding, equipment, and cost management. They play a vital role directly linked to securing future profits and are highly valued by related departments.
However, currently, there is only one dedicated engineer, making the securing of resources for the evaluation and development of next-generation products and the planned transfer of technology and know-how through on-the-job training an urgent issue. Against this backdrop, this recruitment is aimed at securing and developing the next generation of talent to lead this field.
Responsibilities
Review of test methodologies, feedback for test design guides and next-generation product design.
Consideration of selection policies and evaluation methods for test equipment (testers, probers, handlers, etc.)
High-density circuit design and guiding on multi-test fixtures (probe cards, test boards, etc.)
Next-generation automotive MCU/SoC product tester strategy and test-related elemental technology development engineer.
In particular, for multi-pin, high-current products, consider and formulate policies for the following test environments that achieve both high quality and low cost.
Qualifications
Experience in semiconductor product testing and evaluation (7-10 years)
Experience in defining and compiling requirements for semiconductor equipment such as testers, probers, and handlers.
Understanding the basic structure of test program languages (main/patterns), etc. (Logic tester type)
Communication skills
Japanese: Communication level
English: Able to understand what the other person is saying.
Knowledge of product specifications, test specifications, and test methodologies for automotive SOC products.
Experience in creating test specifications
Device program development experience (tester models include the old Verigy V83K/93K, ADVANTEST T65xx/T2K, Teradyne J750HD/UltraFLEX)
