Argenta is currently looking to fill the role of Global Head of Procurement at our Shawnee, KS location. This role is responsible for leading and developing diverse procurement strategies for the Argenta group procurement function ensuring reliable supply at best value for money.

Key Responsibilities: 

People First - Leadership

• Demonstrate leadership by establishing a high performing collaborative procurement function
• Support and enable the procurement team to develop a culture of high performance and engagement with internal customers
• Involved in assessing and developing talent in procurement roles and ensure succession planning is in place across the network
• Engage and retain talent though continual feedback, appropriate rewards, stretch assignments and celebrations of success
• Proactively develop team members and address non-performance when it occurs
• Supports sustainability through corporate policy and initiatives e.g. ethically and sustainably sourced materials

Argenta accountabilities for all employees

• Follow Health and Safety practices and policies and report all incidents and identify risks and hazards.
• Ensure compliance with good housekeeping, GMP & HSE standards and Data Integrity.

Supplier Excellence – Supplier Focus

• Manage and maintain positive relationships with strategic suppliers
• Identify key project needs
• Leads Procurement strategy around major contract items to deliver the most effective price and terms, whilst mitigating supply risks
• Maintains awareness of current market and technology trends and makes recommendations to maximize opportunities and minimize risk
• Involved in key supplier relationships, contract negotiations and resolving major supply issues

Molecule to Market – Strategic Focus 

• Sources new materials for RD&I and new product opportunities
• Drives common use and harmonized specifications for materials globally to mitigate supply chain risk and leverage procurement savings
• Supports global HSE, including sustainability strategy as it relates to Procurement activities

Deliver Innovation – Continuous Improvement

• Develop a continuous improvement culture focused on improving business performance year on year
• Develop and share clear future vision
• Overall accountability for Argenta’s culture and systems related to supplier relationships
• Ensure effective procurement management systems are in place to achieve objectives; roles, responsibilities and authorities are defined and implemented throughout the organization

Financial Performance

• Improve financial performance by negotiating effective global supply deals. Provides input to and works with Finance on Treasury in relation to material purchasing
• Maximize delivery of savings opportunities / optimized payment terms across all controllable spend categories within Argenta

About You:

• Recent experience in a similar position within the pharmaceutical/manufacturing sector
• Demonstrated track record of strategic development and execution
• An ability to identify opportunities to create value from supplier base
• Strong commercial/business acumen and influencing skills
• Effective procurement risk management
• Strategic capacity, ability to think, plan and execute
• Stakeholder management, teamwork and ability to engage effectively internally
• Excellent internal and external communication and relationship building skills
• Highly collaborative, credible, with an ability to engage and influence across all levels
• Driving accountability for performance of teams
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to analyze complex data
• Ability to think outside the box and develop flexible approaches to resolve complex problems
